it’s meh for me
The writing is pretty good but it did not live up to the expectations of being a thriller in my opinion.

This was such and interesting read to me! It tells the true story of Dot King’s murder and the different POVS of the people involved with her case in the 1920’s. The author did a lot of dedicated research to make this book as accurate as possible and recreate her story 100 years later. I am always fascinated by true crime and this is a case that is definitely worth reading about.

Broadway Butterfly is a fashionable true-crime novel, based on a real, high-profile murder mystery in the Roaring Twenties which remains unsolved. Dot King is found dead from chloroform, and this leads to an investigation into the complicated web of New York society, bootleggers, and corrupt officials, exposing sexism and racism present in the system along the way. A stark reminder that things don’t always get neatly resolved in the real world.
