I did the audiobook version which I think amplified to humor as well as the language and accents of Scotland. This was a beautiful depiction of friendship and history and how beautiful it is to learn about where we’re from. I loved the detailed history about Scotland and the clans and the humor as well!
Forget Jamie and Claire, it’s Sam and Graham that have the real chemistry. These two were clearly having the time of their lives galavanting about the countryside and taking the piss out of each other.
It really made for a fun read and has me aching to return to Scotland - the home of my soul, the land of my blood.
The descriptions of Graham having a near heart-attack at Sam trying to drive a stick shift were worth it alone

Loved the character of these two, and I adored their friendship. The banter and narrative format were excellent through the first third, though I felt a bit tired of it up until the last three or so chapters. Overall, I really enjoyed this jaunt Scotland. This book successfully convinced me to watch Men in Kilts.
I listened to the book read by the authors. It was entertaining in that format. Although some of the jokes got old. I don't think I would have enjoyed reading it as it seemed mostly like a conversation between the two authors.
There were some interesting bits but this book is mostly self promotion.

Fun, light-hearted read. They spend a lot of time just giving each other a hard time which is amusing. And there’s a fair amount of Outlander references - so fans of the show may appreciate that. I learned a surprising amount about Scotland - it gave me some context for a trip that I had upcoming.

Clanlands: Whisky, Warfare, and a Scottish Adventure Like No Other by Sam Heughan and Graham McTavish. This was a listen for me, as I do love an accent and enjoyed listening to Sam’s memoir last month. The friendship between these two is obvious as they tell some of the history of Scotland’s clans throughout history interspersed with their own journey across the country. (The “gentle ribbing” of each other seemed a bit much at times, very scripted instead of just off-the-cuff banter between man-friends, but was still funny.) I enjoyed the stories about the clans very much; it’s like a little mini history lesson about certain chapters of Scottish history, which gives you a brief view into life in those times. It was an entertaining book and I definitely recommend the audio version.
I recommend the audiobook for this one, as I’d literally listen to these men read the dictionary. The history of the Scottish highlands, behind-the-scenes looks at filming Outlander, and the friendly banter between the two of them makes this book a fun read.
