I know nothing about Outlander, I only know that Graham and Sam are good friends and when I look for comedy book recommendations, lots of people always mention this book.

It was really hilarious on and on throughout out the book. The classic grumpy and sunshine pair in real life having an adventure together, of course chaos ensues. It's so fascinating how they told the story between the historical events, their never ending banter, their flashbacks on the Outlander set or any other memories of their movies and series. The horror, the comedy, the heartwarming parts. I really really enjoyed reading this. I love learning about the clans and Scotland through their eyes. Cannot wait for their next journey in New Zealand! Hopefully there will be a lot the hobbit stories ❤

Do yourself a favor and listen to the audiobook, read by the authors. :)

A much-anticipated and much-awaited book for any fan of Outlander books and TV series! Imagine taking your bestie on a pretty unusual road trip across Scotland with all kinds of adventures... and trying to get on each other's nerves at every possibility... and then writing a book about it! That's basically what you get in Clanlands. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it but then again I'm totally biased and subjective on all Outlander-related literature. I laughed out loud more than once because the relationship between Graham and Sam was so relatable and genuine (the constant bickering really makes this book lighthearted and entertaining). But above all, the book is full of interesting insights into Scottish history and traditions and Sam's and Graham's life stories, especially their acting careers. We also get quite a lot of references to filming Outlander; therefore, I would say they really are playing into their audience. I honestly cannot wait to see their own series Men in Kilts.

P.S. I have a feeling that Jack Kerouac is somehow stalking me this year (I don't think my review of his book was that bad...). Anyhow, he's been referenced in the introduction of the last two books I've read. I don't know what Herself was thinking but Clanlands was nothing like On the Road, in my humble and biased opinion.

While it was enjoyable and, at times, funny, I would have preferred more travel antics and humour and a bit more in the way of history, as opposed to long dialogues about filming the Outlander show. It read more as 'this is a BTS look at the making of Outlander' instead of a history of Scotland with some drunken antics.

I listened to this on audiobook, which is probably the best way, as the two actors narrate the book and theres a level of banter we get to experience with them reading it, it feels more like a dinner conversation with the two.

This book was FANTASTIC! I'm booking my trip to Scotland right away! (If only) I watched the TV show first, which I actually recommend because seeing their banter on TV made it easier to picture while reading. I was laughing throughout the book and I was laughing out loud during the motorcycle side car chapter, until I wasn't. Yikes! The History of Scotland is fascinating and horrifying all at the same time. These clan wars were no joke. They will kill entire clans because someone was rude to someone's mom. Holy cow! I already checked on Clan Graham and they do have castle ruins to check out so next big trip, Scotland!
