I was hoping to learn about the history and geography of Scotland. This book was much more just back and forth between the two authors competing for who was more clever. Way too much talk about alcohol and wise cracks between the authors.

3.5 stars. The guys are funny, the history interesting. It has made me looking into watching Men With Kilts now.

Listen to the audiobook!

Rollicking and educational buddy comedy slash history tour of Scotland with Outlander favorites Sam and Graham. Extra Thumbs up for the audio version :) Slàinte Mhath!

I have waited over a year to get my hands on this book, and the wait was worth it.

As a huge fan of Outlander and both these people as actors, their writing styles are indicative of their acting. They throw themselves into it with everything they have. This makes for a wonderful read, or in my case a listen since I had the audio book. Which, by the way, is read by the authors.

The book was told almost like a story, with the authors bickering like old friends while one of the reads their chapter. They would interject into each others thoughts, adding their own parts of the story, and making the words so much more complex. They told about their time on Outlander, and how they got to know each other. They told about the making of Men in Kilts, another hilarious show by Sam and Graham. There is so much wonder and life in this book, that I could read it again in a heartbeat.

I really loved diving into the world of Sam and Graham. A great read.

Disclaimers: I listened to it and I have not watched Clanlands. I have read the first 5 Outlander books.

I loved this audiobook. I loved that both actors "read" the book. It was very entertaining. While they do talk about filming it doesn't take away, but adds to the reading interest. I only listen to audible books when I am working on fixing up houses. This one kept me distracted from the hard work. A perfect audiobook.

It’s 5 stars if you are fans of Scotland, Outlander or these men in kilts! If you aren’t, maybe not your cup of tea. Loved the way the history and culture was taught amongst the teasing and banter of these friends.

Audio book is the way to go for this one! It served well as a listen-while-my-hands-are-busy read too. So pick up your embroidery, settle into a nice chair (or into your work-out gear) and let this story wash over you. This is excellent for illuminating aspects of Scottish history that are given short shrift in English and American education. Graham and Sam do a good job of tying the bits together, and (bonus) with the events in the Outlander stories.

Great easy read and I look forward to watching their adventure in Men in Kilts. Having gone to Scotland last year I have added more places to visit next time and gained a new understanding of the places I've been like Stirling Castle and Edinburgh.

Heughan and McTavish are a delightful duo and their friendship and humor really make this book the most fun I’ve had learning history. Interspersed with personal stories that taught me more about them both. Loved it.
