I know these books are not the next great American novel, but I just love them. They are quick and easy reads with good banter, some spice and a plot that moves. I would LOVE to see this series turned into a show.

I also love that this book was set around Christmastime and pulled in elements of A Christmas Carol.

Thank you so much to Berkley Romance and Netgalley for providing an advanced copy of this! All thoughts and opinions are still my own.

I was so excited to be back in this world and with these characters! But this book had big shoes to fill after I completely fell in love with book 4.

But wow did Colton not disappoint.

I did not think that this book could top a marriage of convenience - but I was happily proved wrong.

Not only did I adore this romance, but these characters completely stole my heart. The way that Colton WORSHIPS Gretchen had me absolutely swooning.

This opens up with a one night of Colton's dreams, only for Gretchen to run out on him with the sun. He spends the next year wondering what went wrong only for Gretchen to, unexpectedly, show back up in his life.

His attraction and need to know what went wrong, leads them on a holiday themed fake dating adventure.

And I loved every single moment.

Gretchen's family is the literal worst. I hated them with every fiber of my being. But watching Colton defend her, and stand up against them even at the possible detriment to himself, left me a melted puddle. There is nothing I love more in romance than a worshipping hero. And boy was Colton a worshipper.

On top of that I love how self aware this series is. It knows it's tropes and acknowledges them. And even the 3rd act breakup is done in such a way that won me over.

I want more books in this series! But even if we don't get any more, I absolutely can't wait to see what this author writes next!!

This was fun and steamy, but had enough emotional moments to keep it from getting stale.

Christmas wasn’t as big of a subplot as I thought it was going to be, which is both good and bad.

I do wish there had been more scenes with the whole gang and the book club. I also thought there could have been a different epilogue, especially if this is the last book in the series.

Super enjoyable and exactly what I needed to stay out of a slump!

CW: familial abuse, blackmail, physical abuse
Tropes: grumpy/sunshine, horrible rich family, FMC hates Christmas and MMC loves Christmas

Yeah. This was definitely my least favorite of the series. Nothing against it; it was a cute holiday grumpy x sunshine romance with the typical Respecting Women Juice-drinking Bromance Book Clubs bros.

Colton is a joy to listen to/read about. I genuinely don’t even care about his career. In fact, the story makes that fact almost entirely irrelevant, in my opinion. But he’s a sweetie with a huge heart and he has obviously been head over heels in love with Gretchen since they hooked up at the wedding.

Gretchen is cool, too. She’s a super accomplished immigration attorney who’s pretty much estranged from her super rich family that owns a whiskey empire. Her brother was always an abusive asshole and her parents were too afraid of a scandal to ever do anything about it. As such, she is super jaded and thinks the horribleness of her family is only dragging down Colton!

I just wanna say: GRETCHEN YOU LITERALLY HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH ANY OF THESE ASSHOLES! GO BE HAPPY AND BE WITH COLTON! And then, in typical Bromance Book Club fashion, they get engaged and have Christmas sex! Yay HEA!

This book series had been a delight! Every man in this, I loved. And real perfect for a holiday romance!! Very cute. And fluffy. And the whole family drama thing with Gretchen (FAWK YOUR FAMILY ALL MY HOMIES HATE THE WINTHROPS. except you jack!!) stressed me out especially when Colton got arrested???? complete whiplash, actually. HELL. this definitely tickled my fancy all in all. and to that i say, thank you, lyssa kay adams for writing these wonderful funny delightful people!!!
