merry christmas eve, friends! if you’re lucky {unlike me} and have the next couple of days off work, you have plenty of time to binge read this one!
this is book five in the “bromance book club” series and it was such a warm hearted, cozy book. the premise of the series is that a group of Nashville men comprised of athletes, entrepreneurs and musicians form a romance book club in order to become better partners, friends and men. in this iteration of the story, colton, a country music star, has been pining for gretchen, an immigration lawyer, since their one night stand a year ago. this christmas, she’s trying to recruit him to be an ambassador for her family’s whiskey label. the forced proximity finally gives him a chance to woo her, but her family issues and self loathing just might threaten their happily ever after…
dare I say it, this is one of my favorite romance series! I love that it challenges toxic aspects of traditional masculinity through a committed friendship between extremely masculine characters. Colton’s book in particular, the found family storyline was so lovely. it might be my favorite book in the series (but it’s in close competition with vlad’s story). it was fairly spicy but not over the top, i was rooting for both main characters individually and as a couple, and the “b” plots the author developed were exceptional. often in romance novels they can feel like meaningless fluff, but not here. it’s also not TOO overdone on the Christmas element, so it feels like it could be an anytime-of-the-year read!
I listened to this partially on audio and give the audio narration four stars — very well done!

DNF at 41% ... I wasn't enjoying this one as much as some of the others in the series. I was not ready to stick it out til the end of this one to see if the characters would start respecting each other more. I'm not a fan of how pushy Colton was and I felt like this one leaned a bit too far into the troublesome stereotype that regardless of the actions and words out of her mouth when a woman sets boundaries with a man she still secretly likes his affections and pursuits that disrespect her boundaries. Also the scene where the kiss was so powerful that he had to kick Gretchen out so that he could write a song about the powerful kiss was a little too much to get on board with, even for someone as much of a sap as I am.
I liked seeing the guys and their partners pop back in but I never really bought that this couple truly liked each other beyond a powerful sexual chemistry
I truly believe Lyssa Kay Adams could just keep dropping books from this series and I'd give them all a stellar review. I'm obsessed with this.
This is the most I have enjoyed an installment in this series since the first book and I am pleased as punch about it!!!
This is the 5th book in the Bromance Book Club series. I enjoyed 1 and 2 and need to catch up on the others but this one is perfect for Christmas.
Colton Wheeler is a big shot country star. Gretchen is a lawyer but comes from a rich family where she didn't really fit.
The are complete opposites. One likes Christmas. One has never had a real christmas to have a reason to like it.
But for some reason they fit. Can their differences and their families mesh?
I enjoyed this as mich as the rest in the series. It doesn't give as much background about the book club but it was still a fun story. There's some spicy romance as well!
