What I would give to have read this when I was younger. It truly is a beautiful story that will stick with me forever. Relish in what I have and make a conscious effort to think about how much I complain instead of being grateful. This was actually my first Clive Barker novel and I will definitely be reading more from him.

“The great gray beast February had eaten Harvey Swick alive. Here he was, buried in the belly of that smothering month, wondering if he would ever find his way out through the cold coils that lay between here and Easter.”
So begins this enchanting tale of a House that steals children and gives them everything they want in exchange for Time. I read this in a couple hours, and it’s just as good as it was when I read it in high school.

A delightfully creepy read to start out my October with. Reminiscent to me of Coraline, and McCammon's 'Boy's Life', but still very much its own story. My dad loves this book, and I'm glad he recommended it. Lots of wonderful descriptions and humor combined with unsettling undertones and powerful themes. A book I'm sure will leave a mark, although I read it in an evening.
