I liked it. I very good, quick read set in an interesting world. I can see why it came so highly recommended to me and am a bit ashamed for not reading it sooner.

I adored this book as a kid. I need to find a copy so I can re-read it.

So I truly don’t know how to react to this book. The message was wonderful and something I think every child should know, but the amount of darkness in this book concerns me. I was not prepared for how dark and twisted this book was. This was a gift to me, so maybe this is just not my genre, but my god it was much darker than I would have liked.

#mrhoodsholidayhome this book is magic. Scary, exciting, dark, and cautionary magic but absolutely divine! I enjoyed this start to finish, and took my time whilst reading to make it last as long as possible..... didn’t work though lol Barker really does a fantastic job at making this fable about enjoying the little things and living in the moment absolutely enchanting. If I had read this as a kid I would have changed my tone about having to endure February. I can not recommend this enough. Easy 5/5 get this book and read it! Also enjoy the illustrations throughout they are magic!

I adore this book, and it's one of my go-to comfort reads. As a kid, I was fascinated by this magical Holiday House, where all your earthly desires came true. I yearned for it, relating to Harvey's boredom and the feeling of days being too long. As an adult, I can appreciate the themes of time lost. How being too wrapped up in what you want can make you lose sight of what you already have.

It's simplisticly written and tightly knit, yet still so so fun to read, with added illustrations akin to Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark. The light themes of Clive Barker's signature body horror and a fantastical spin on every child's dream--this book is both unsettling and delightful. A comfort that I can't help returning to time and time again.
