i can't think of a better book to read in one sitting on a nasty february afternoon. recommended for all ages.
Not usually a fantasy fan, but this story was gripping and well thought out!
This book was so much fun! It’s a really easy read, full of colorful characters, fantastic scenery and creepy imagery. It lived up to the hype.

Clive Barker encaptures the true essence of classic 80's horror and delivers it so vividly, you can smell the baked goods. The Thief of Always feels like an 80's movie with practical effects and creepy monsters. This book gave off Something Wicked This Way Comes, Little Monsters, Monster Squad, Goonies, and Troll 2 vibes in literary terms. It's one of my favorite books of all time. I read it at least once a year.
It's a quick read as well, so you can definitely take a day to sit and read it all. I plan to read this to my children in the future.

This is one of those books that I'm giving 3 stars as an adult reader that I would still 100% buy for my library because I know many, many kids would love it. It can be hard to find scary books that are still appropriate for middle grade readers and this fits the bill for sure.
This is 100% the blueprint for Coraline. Striking similarities though in my opinion, this is better. Coraline was written over a decade later. Clive Barker was a friend of Neil Gaiman as well. It just adds up.
