I'm loving this series so much and REAPER OF SOULS was a great addition with some very interesting character development. We see Caleb start to grow up a bit and realize his casual disregard is actually hurtful as he begins to emphasize with his fellow paranormally-abled people. We also see Gray understanding more and more what it means to be human and his protectiveness toward Caleb and John is growing. And the big one, John is starting to acknowledge his attraction to Gray and that exorcizing Gray would also mean killing him.

The relationship between Caleb and John is moving fast but their chemistry and connection is so clearly written. I've been wondering how things would progress, especially with Gray, and I'm curious to see if (most likely when) this develops into a three way relationship.

On to the next book right away!

This series keeps getting better and better. I love Gray and can't wait to see how John is going to deal with his feelings for him.

Things are becoming a bit more complicated on the relationship front as John is falling for Gray, as he fell for Caleb. And Caleb is still figuring out how to deal better with Gray, and still wanting to be normal. Such an interesting dynamic going on. I love much Gray is learning and beginning to understand the foibles, quirks and inconsistency of humanity.

The storyline was fun. Politics and power seem to go hand in hand too often and sometimes it backfires with dangerous consequences. In this case, death.

I’m intrigued to find out more about SPECTR. Really enjoying this series.

Reaper of Souls is the third book in the SPECTR series. I've been enjoying this paranormal romantic suspense series so far and this was another great read. In reaper of Souls the case is about an incubus they have to catch. For a long time they keep missing the bad guy, until they figure out some more pieces and then everything comes together.

This book is fast paced and has plenty of action, but there are also more quiet moments to develop the characters and relationship a bit more. It was interesting to see a bit about a different type of NHE in this book this time an incubus. It also was interesting how they have multiple encounters before they figure out who the incubus is and where to find him so he won't escape.

This book mostly has Caleb and John's relationship on solid ground which was nice. They still have some doubts, but they are together for this whole story and I liked seeing their relationship deepen a bit. John realizes the depth of his feelings more and it feels like their relationship is deeper now that they decided to move in together.

One of my favorite parts of this series is learning more about Gray, the non human entity that inhabits Caleb's body. It's so interesting to have these two souls in one body and how they make it work. There are some new things we learn about Gray in this book. While it goes slowly I like every new piece we learn and how it gives us a better feel for Gray. While they still want to get Gray exorcised it's also clear Caleb and Gray are starting to deal a bit better with the whole situation. And I can't wait to see how the situation with Gray develops.

To summarize: another great read in this series. This book has a fast paced plot with plenty of action, but also more quiet moments for the character and relationship development. I liked the plot line of this one with the bad guy arriving early, but it takes a while for everything to fall on it's place. There are some interesting developments character wise. And as usual I liked learning more about Gray, we only get small pieces, but with each book we learn a bit more. The romance turns a bit more serious as the two characters move in together. I have a speculations about what will happen next and I am looking forward to reading the next book.

I have a basic problem with Spectr: while I like the premise and the characters, the novellas in the series are too short and I feel like they barely get started by the time they're done. You'd think that the ability to read them quickly one after the other would help (and it does), but it feels odd to get short explanations to remind me of what's going on every few hours or so.

So... I like Spectr, but it doesn't click with me as much as it might have.

Anyway, just like in the previous two volumes, the couple in this one is actually a trio: the "paranormal cop", John, who loves sticking to the rules and the law; the vaguely telekinetic paranormally-abled Caleb, who has an Attitude and dislikes authority; and Gray, the "I'm-not-a-demon" non-human entity who is currently riding in Caleb's body although he never intended to possess him or anything. And this relationship is quite awesome.

"Reaper of Souls" has a plot centered on prejudice, tightening legislation based on hatred which will harm people just trying to make a living, and a politician with a secret to hide. It isn't precisely new, and it didn't surprise me as much as it might have, but it was a fun read.

Reaper of Souls closes the first volume of the Spectr series, so now that I've finished it, it seems like an appropriate moment to take a look around and try to review the series. Volume one is on a strict timeline: Caleb has been possessed by a drakul, Gray. If Gray can be exorcised before 40 days are up, Caleb can go back to his life. If he can't, well... there's normally no hope for a human host/victim after that point. John is an agent with Spectr, and he's meant to be pretty darn good, but he can't get Gray out.

As a result, and due to Gray's unique circumstances (he hunts other paranormal entities, not humans; his possession of Caleb is an accident), John ends up babysitting Caleb while he tries to figure out how to exorcise him -- and then Caleb ends up helping him with cases using Gray's strength and supernatural senses, and then Caleb and John start falling in love.

I enjoyed the ambivalence surrounding Gray -- the fact that he seems to care about not harming Caleb, not causing too much trouble, and especially his curiosity about John. John's confused feelings about both of them add another dimension as well, one that becomes increasingly important toward the end of the volume.

I'm looking forward to reading the second volume and learning how everything shakes out.

Not as great as previous 2 books. Too much politics for my taste and there were some slow spots.

What was awesome about this book was GREY!!! Yes! Grey, the not-demon, was the superstar of this book as he develops more personality and a greater fondness of orgasms with John through Caleb. Does it count as a menage? Cause I'm totally shipping the three of them. Gr-ohn-eb for life!!! I can't wait to see more from this series.

If anybody has better shipping names I'm totally open to it.
