Couldn't put down!
This was the first book I'd read from the series but worked as a standalone book. Really liked the story, different to what you'd expect from the genre. Loved seeing how Ewan and Isobel's relationship progressed and the drama that surrounding it. Looking forward to reading other books in the series!

Protector in a Kilt by Kait Nolan, book four in her Kilted Hearts series, is former special forces operative Ewan McBride and talented violinist Elizabeth (aka Isobel) Duncan’s story, the woman who claimed his heart. Elizabeth only has her music, as she is under tight control of the manager/agent her mother signed with when Elizabeth was twelve years old. When his strict authority threatens her physical well-being, Elizabeth runs away. Her running finds her on a deserted road in a thunderstorm, and having a tree crash onto the car she was driving; Ewan McBride discovers her and takes her to his home in a small village near Inverness. He tends to her wounds, and realizing she's running from something, vows to keep her safe. Ewan has felt adrift, haunted by his past and searching for purpose. Encountering Isobel brings out his caring heart and protective side, as Ewan knows he will risk everything to protect her and keep her safe.
Having been brave enough to leave and start over, Elizabeth, now Isobel, becomes part of both the extended McBride family and the village of Glenlaig. Ewan's special forces training keeps Isobel safe, and the rag-tag family of The Stag's Head, Ewan's pub, welcome her as one of their own; providing a place where she can belong, with a group of people offering her the love and support she has not had in a long time. As they get to know one another, lines are crossed; their chemistry sparks and sizzles, as love grows between Ewan and Isobel. But Isobel is always waiting for her past to catch up with her and destroy the new start she's made for herself. When danger does find them Ewan will do whatever he has to do keep her safe. Their journey toward healing, as they also find a deep and forever love, is moving and inspiring.
Ms. Nolan wrote an emotional, heartwarming story providing her characters with empowerment, resilience, and the redemptive power of love. With themes of community, found family, and new beginnings, this charming, heartwarming, phenomenal read is a must read. I highly recommend Protector in a Kilt to other readers and look forward to the next book in the series.

This has been a fun, change of pace series from this author. I've been loving each and every new story. I loved how protective Ewan was, how sweet he turned out to be, and his dog! Isobel was a good character, she led a very different life before meeting Ewan, so very opposites attract. I liked her, seeing her come out of her shell, i just wanted more! I truly can't wait for more from the series.

Another winner in this series! I couldn't put this book down. It's a must read. Isobel broke my heart from what she had to runaway from, but that show of strength and bravery to run was rewarded for where she ended up. You can't ask for betting people than Ewan and his circle of family and friends. They step up and lend a helping hand. Ewan may be grumpy, but Isobel sure brings out a softer and protective side of him. I loved watching Isobel blossom with her first glimpse of freedom and creating lasting connections with friends. I loved catching up with previous characters and seeing them enjoying their HEAs and the expanding families. It always makes my heart to read a book in this series because the characters have stolen a piece of my heart. Experiencing Isobel's journey the ending of this makes me so happy for her. She deserves All the happiness. Looking forward to the next book in the series.

Protector In A Kilt is fast paced and full of sweet moments and self discovery.
Ewan can be gruff and intimidating but he's an amazing man. When he finds Isobel in a car crash, his protective instincts kick in. She's on the run from her controlling abuser. I love how Ewan encourages her to make her own decisions and figure out who she is. She brings so much light to his life and makes his house a home.
The suspense is perfect! And the mutual pining was delicious! These two complete each other in every way.
I received an ARC for an honest review.
