My heart is POUNDING after finishing this book! What an ending!

Echo of Deceit is the second book in the Echo series. It follows Lillian, Kian, Finn, and Sam after the heartbreaking last trial. As she struggles with her inner turmoil and her new powers, she finds her strength and learns that she doesn't have to take on all the weight of saving everyone alone.

I flew through this book! The author did so well with keeping you on your toes and throwing every twist and turn you can think of. I loved how Lillian and Kian's relationship evolved, and with that, it brought some spice 😉.

I really enjoyed having the multiple POVs. Getting into Finn and Kian's head made me love the characters even more. It gave me a better understanding of them and their personalities.

I am so excited for the next book to come out and see what happens with Lillian!

I would like to thank the author for allowing me to receive this ARC in return for an honest review.

Man, did I picture that ending? No, am I crying right now? Yes! But omg this book, just like the first will pull at your heart strings and get you so mad and want to scream. Because I sure want to! That ending just makes me want book three as soon as possible. I can't, I need to know what happens!

I loved this book so much! I felt every emotion and I'm still feeling it. Like I didn't think I could fell happiness, sad, angry, and many more just at the end of a book. Ugh Sophia did such a wonderful job with this book! She did great with the first but man this one is so much more!!!! I can't wait to see what she does with book three. Like I know it's going to be so much more and then some!

The follow up to Echo Of Wings did not disappoint. With the curse on her finally broken, we get to see Lillian in her true form. The daughter of a powerful magic wielding "human" and a Valkyrie mother. As Lillian now realizes her true identity and attempts to embrace her people and take up her Queendom, she realized that her years in a sheltered life with little training might hinder her directives. With her mate, her familiar and her friend Sam by her side, Lillian not only has to learn how to harness her power from her father and her Valkyrie abilities, while coming to terms with the losses she suffered to not only break her curse but to survive the guard trials in her attempts to assassinate the king. Also learning that the commander was also leading a false identity not only as the crown prince but finding he is her fated mate.

This book, similar to book one, still requires some world building as now we are expanding on different areas than the human lands. We delve into the history of the Valkyries and get to be introduced to other creatures in this world. The dynamics of now forging new relationships and expanding on the complexities of current relationships amidst tragedy and death puts a strain on our favorite characters and a darkness to our FMC that she has a hard time suppressing.

This book had my mind going a mile a minute. I love my bookish conspiracy theories and allowing my mind the opportunity to attempt to guess the trajectory of the plot lines. I also love when I think I have the right idea, only to be fooled. This book will keep you on your toes and the payoff is there. I cannot wait for book 3.

What a ride! Jeez this book is so good! There's heartbreak, magic, dragons, quests, romance, bond creating and breaking. Things will not go as you think they will!

This one changes point of view chapter to chapter, which I love. It's nice to get different perspectives from the main characters. Also, the beginning of the chapter mentions the character whose point of view it is in case you missed it at the top. That is also nice and reduces the jar of the switch.

It's hard to give any plot summaries without spoiling the first book. This one is longer, there's more going on. Will they kill Alek? Will Adeon come after Lillian? Will she find anyone to help? Deceit surrounds her. Get this amazing book and read for yourself. I received an advanced review copy and am voluntarily leaving a review for this absolutely wonderful read. Seriously, get it!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ / 🌶️

“I’ll always be here to catch you when you fall if you let me.”
“Since when you listen to anyone?”

Great continuation to the first book in the series, Echo of Wings.

The book starts right where the first one ended, continuing to follow the characters from the first book and introducing some new ones. The story is told from three POVs: Lillian, Kian, and Finn.

Once again, I liked Lillian as a main character. She remained strong and interesting, and I enjoyed seeing her become even stronger throughout the book.

Like the previous book, this one was also fast and easy to read, with a well-written and interesting storyline. The pacing was quite fast, and a few times I would have preferred it to be a bit slower.

There was a lot happening, with no dull moments. The world seemed interesting, and I loved learning more about it. I would love to learn more about the dragons; they seemed intriguing and gave me some Fourth Wing vibes.

Can’t wait to read more!

I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review. Receiving ARC didn’t affect my opinion of the book.

I was privileged enough to get the first two of these books to review for this series. The second book releases on July 16th. I read both of these books in record time. Valkyrie, Dragons, Mates, Familiars? So much adventure, magic, fun. Oh and don’t forget the ravens. I mean, this book has everything. The first did as well. I can’t wait for the third book! This is definitely more fantasy than romance so if you’re looking for something more story heavy than romance heavy, these are great books for just that!

This is the second book in the Echo series, a romantasy series that started with Echo of Wings. Tropes include found family, touch her and die, fates mates, betrayals, hurt/comfort and trauma healing. This book does contain one spicy scene and some trauma healing so please check content warnings.
The Lovely: If I thought I loved the first book, then I don’t even know how to describe this one. Mega love? Much like book one, it was an emotional roller coaster that you can’t put down. The story is captivating and all the pieces fit together. We learn a good deal more about the Valkyries but it never feels like an info dump since it’s done gradually through dialogue and we’re learning right along with the FMC. The pacing in this book was so,I’d even though the stakes were lower (well, for some of it). The tension was perfect and I pretty much read this book in one go.
Also Lovely: I also loved the characters, main and otherwise, and the different relationships were stunning. Everyone is hurting after book one and it impacts each character in varying ways. The characters’ emotions were written in such a way you felt them right along with the characters. It was beautiful and immersive, while sometimes also being painful.
Rating: 5/5 Stars 2/5 Flames
Recommendation: I received an advance review copy, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. There is a pretty large cliff at the end of the book and I’m still sitting here in utter shock with my heart in shreds. So much emotion and power in that ending. I’m anxious for book three to learn how the story plays out from here. Sophia has created yet another masterpiece that will capture your attention and your heart all the way through the end.

4.5-4.75 but also maybe 5! It was so amazing!

THE END HAD ME IN SHAMBLES!!!! Like I KNEW but DENG I DIDNT KNOW! Like I thought I’d predict stuff but then Sophia said yeah but let’s break your heart!

This series is so unique and there are so many aspects of it that I rarely come across in fantasy books!

Things I LOVED:
- special bonds (not just fated mates)
- animal guardians
- dragons (bonded? Maybe not?)
- found family
- good job referencing the first book seamlessly
- multiple POV
- crazy identity
- forbidden romance
- age gap

What I struggled with:
- some awkward dialogue
- slow pacing in the middle (but also the pacing overall was amazing! Maybe it was me and not the book. Maybe I was tired)

Do I recommend this book and series so far? YES!

Thank you so much Sophia for giving me this ARC in exchange for an honest review! I loved it!
