"How To Survive Your Murder" by Danielle Valentine is a captivating and immersive experience that had me thoroughly engrossed. As someone with a literal ghostface tattoo, the nods to Billy and Sidney felt like a delightful homage, invoking a nostalgic connection.
Valentine's writing is a cinematic delight, skillfully blending the thrill of watching a scary movie with the immersive sensation of being a part of one. The narrative expertly sustains suspense, keeping me on the edge of my seat throughout, and I found myself unable to put the book down. The culmination, marked by a truly shocking ending, left me reeling and craving more.
I sincerely hope there's a sequel in the pipeline, as the narrative possibilities hinted at in this tale are simply too intriguing to leave unexplored. "How To Survive Your Murder" is a gripping journey, seamlessly combining elements of horror, mystery, and cinematic nostalgia.

This was an interesting time travel twist on the final girl trope. If you like horror tropes and movies, it might be worth a read. However, the ending kind of fucked it for me, the sister was SO evil for kind of no reason? I felt like the end merited maybe a sequel or an epilogue, but it was not a very satisfying ending for you. I get that her dad was being a sleazeball, but to turn into a chainsaw murderer?? There were a lot of plot holes but this was still a dramatic romp that kept me on the edge of my seat. I didn't expect the ultimate reveal of the murderer on my first read through, but in hindsight I guess it is the only explanation. Meh, unfortunately.

This was definitely a fun young adult mystery thriller horror page turner. A lot of fun and definitely a love letter to slasher films and final girls.
