if your name is Elizabeth and you haven’t read this book yet, stop reading here.

if you’re not Elizabeth or you have read it, continue. i think overall the book was great. i was literally and figuratively on the edge of my seat for over half of it. the mystery of what would’ve happened if Claire hadn’t been killed was incredible. everyone was a suspect and it was entirely believable. so plot of the mystery itself like 5/5. perfect. the very very end i will say was definitely cliché so 4/5. but otherwise i loved it. the dialogue also was a bit odd to me. it was a little frustrating because some of the things said are such clichés and also not something a normal human would say. but then again the book is kind of supposed to be a horror movie cliché so it makes sense. also quick warning this book makes literally THOUSANDS of references. to shows, movies, books, authors, actors, actresses, etc, etc, etc. every mainstream actors name could probably be found in this book. it was really really annoying. BUT other than the overwhelming amount of unnecessary references i really really enjoyed the book. and i’d definitely recommend to fans of horrors or mysteries.
like Claire only killing everyone to be famous because she was a failed actress was literally the entire plot of Scream IV to a T.  🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Honestly I had so much fun with this. I’ve been in a massive reading slump after trudging my way through multiple fantasies and needed something completely different.

Admittedly, I’m not a horror movie fan nor do I read almost any horror and this book had tons of 90’s horror movie references. I didn’t understand most of the references but I don’t think it took away from my enjoyment of the book.

If you consume a lot of the genre you might have found this as trying to hard but I just found it fun. I highly recommend it if your a fan or thrillers and looking for something fast paced.

I did guess some of the twists early on, but the last page shocked me. Definitely didn’t guess that.

Alice is an extremely relatable character. She's the "normal" high school girl who doesn't really fit in with any major clique. She isn't a nerd, or a popular girl, or in with what would be considered the cliche weird group. Alice is just herself and she does her own thing. She does have a sister who is in the popular crowd. Well, she did. Until her sister was murdered. On Halloween night, no less. If that isn't the start of a great slasher movie, I don't know what is. But don't worry, because Alice gets the opportunity to go back in time and wake up on the day her sister was murdered for a chance to save her and stop the killer. Did someone order "Happy Death Day" vibes? It was probably me.

This is an incredible story! It reads like an homage to every great slasher flick out there. If you are a horror movie buff, then this is most certainly a book for you. It has every essence of a great slasher but on a page instead of a screen. Though it's written in such a way that you feel like you're right there in a horror movie. It was like all of your favorite little pieces of every one of your favorite slashers rolled into one book. And it was INCREDIBLE! I want more of them. This is definitely one I'm going to be reading again. The writing style was A++ and the characters were kickass!
