I received this arc in exchange for an honest review. 🤍

the fmc works at an exclusive matchmaking agency which is facing turmoil as someone threatens to expose them, while the mmc is an investment banker who needs to be married by his 35th birthday in order to receive his late grandfather’s inheritance. the fmc is assigned to his case and the two grow closer as they try to find the perfect bride for his marriage of convenience.

i did enjoy this as the plot was really unique and fast-paced. however, it was quite jumpy and i feel like their chemistry could have been better developed.

At the beginning I really enjoyed the book and read at least the first half really quickly. But the more I read the less I liked the book and where I could buy into a mutual interest and attraction, this turned into a really cheesy love story in the end which didn’t seem authentic at all.

The characters were okay, but nothing more. I wasn’t invested in either of them and while it was sometimes quite funny, I was waiting for the spark between Poppy and Tristan. It felt more like they were living through one ridiculous (and therefore definitely funny at times) situation after another, but I didn’t feel an emotional connection beyond the mutual understanding that the people surrounding them were kind of insane or chemistry beyond the acknowledgement that they found each other physically attractive. And chemistry is more than that, love obviously a whole nother story.

So I wasn’t happy with the too-happy-to-be-realistic ending and actually couldn’t care for how the book ended. The last third or so kind of spoiled the reading for me and I was relieved when I finished the book. Honestly, I should have DNFed…

3,5 stars for the premise of the book and because it was well written and definitely had its moments.

3.5 ⭐️ Typically a 4 star book for me is one that I LOVED, but probably won’t reread. I loved aspects of this one, but I’m rating it down half a star because parts of it were a bit “skip worthy” IMO.

Falling for your matchmaker… such a fun, unique story. I loved Tristan and Poppy and it was so nice watching them go from strangers to friends to more. They didn’t start listing after each other right way, which is so often the case. Their relationship built organically as they got to know each other.

While I don’t mind a super slow burn (and often prefer it), there was quite a bit of plot/page time spent around Tristan and Poppy’s family, work and friend relationships. This was probably because this is the first in a series so there were a lot of other characters to introduce. I didn’t find these pages and relationships as interesting or necessary as the times where Poppy and Tristan spent time together. Honestly, their relationship could have used some more build up and it felt rushed at the end because too much time was spent elsewhere.
