Kinda seemed like it was written for people who have never attended anything and don’t have basic emotional intelligence, but I enjoyed the stories and it was helpful to just think a little more about the structure of gatherings.

I read this for work and was not expecting to enjoy it (simply because the genre/topic felt homework-y), but I really LOVED this. It really made me think about how parties and events are a reflection of the human condition and our need to create order and community. It also inspired me (a self-diagnosed introvert) to host more and rethink some elements of my wedding planning.
The writing was very accessible and relatable too!

I think the essential content of this book was good, but has a lot of filler that diluted it somewhat
