The appropriate amount of whataburger love and in n out hate (in n out is trash). Single POV. Super cute and it is a romance though it’s long distance so not a ton of face to face interactions. A coming out and coming of age story. He does out himself to his friends but not truly on purpose and then he is outed to his dad without his consent. There are some rough parts of his story but overall it was so cute and fun and emotional.

The only word that even comes close to describing this novel is…beautiful. This was an absolutely stunning, beautiful debut novel filled with joy, pain, and love. There were moments where I cried. There were moments where I literally laughed out loud. There was a moment where I was so happy that I made a weird sound that made my own partner genuinely concerned for my wellbeing and sanity. This was just beautiful. The characters, the story, the writing, all of it.

aristotle & dante discover the secrets of the universe meets we are the ants!! this book made a habit of ripping my heart apart and then putting it back together. while a good bit of the story is lighthearted, it was much more intense and emotional than i expected. i loved every second though.
the imagery of the sun and moon, mat and luna, was EVERYTHING!!
this book is an instant fav!!

Love the friend group here and that they are so far from perfect. Also that there are some folks who flit in and out and some questions about the group that aren't fully resolved.

Also much love for Xo and Jules's abuelo and for all of Mat's family.

I cried reading this. It was very honest in its representation of what it’s really like to come out. It’s no Simon Versus the Homosapien Agenda, but it’s not meant to be. It’s meant for the children of color, the children of religious family, and for the children who may have lost a parent along the way to finding who they are.
