A charming book with well-developed characters and pacing. I enjoyed it- the writer made me want to visit the store and get to know the ladies.

Violet Turner owns a vintage clothing shop in Madison, Wisconsin. She's on her own after her rocky marriage ended and she likes it that way. She's always dreamed of owning a shop like this and she's happy enough.

Then she finds out that she's being evicted from her building, a good friend asks her to hire a pregnant teenager, and several of her customers' lives are falling apart at the seams as well. Will this circle of friends get each other through these tough times?

I did enjoy this a lot, I just had a good idea where it was going from the beginning.

I did like all of the characters and the strong stances they took. They've made mistakes in the past but they've learned from them. They're going to live life on their terms now. I think women need to be reminded to do that from time to time. April, the pregnant teen, has had a pretty tough life but she's doing the best she can. Amithi's marriage is disintegrating and she's questioning her whole life. Betsy is a do-gooder who's trying to get them all straightened out. Violet is the main character and I liked her a lot. She's caring, pretty spunky, and trying to keep her business afloat. I especially liked her taste in clothes!

I wanted so badly to visit this shop, it was ridiculous! I do actually have a taste for vintage clothes but you would never know it to look at my usual uniform of jeans and tees. I just don't have the patience to dig through all the junk to find the treasure. I need to find a store like this where someone like Violet has done the digging for me! I loved reading the descriptions of the items in the store.

This was a fun read with a good reminder added in. It was a tad predictable but that can be comforting at times. If you're interested, you should definitely give it a try. It's worth picking up for the cover alone!

Thanks to the publisher for sending me a copy for review.

I took a chance on this book. So glad that I did. This book is a delightful treasure of a read! Violet would be happy that I called this book a treasure. I loved all three women in their own ways. The one thing that they all had in common is that they did not just sit around feeling sorry for themselves, they got up did things that empowered them as strong, independant women. Thus this is why I liked all the women a lot. Plus, each of their stories were good ones. The flow of the voices of each woman to the next was an easy transaction.

Classic line in book on page 226 "Happy endings aren't just for fairy tales and massage parlors."

Yes, happy endings do exist not just in books and you don't have to purchase them.

I really thought I would like this book. It started out well enough -the interweaving stories of several women, centering around a vintage clothing shop in Madison, Wisconsin. it soon becomes completely predictable and dull. I barely finished the last few chapters. And why is that all the characters speak clearly and correct, except the word "gonna"? Is it a Wisconsin thing that is supposed to make the book authentic? The book includes everything but the kitchen sink- pregnant teen, mental illness, drunken ex-husband, drag queens, society queen keeping her son under her thumb, hospice, lawsuits, cheating husband, tattooed vintage shop owner, stupid misunderstandings only there to keep the sluggish plot moving. I lowered my rating as I thought about it, so I'll stop now.

So fun to read a book about women’s relationships and vintage clothes set in Madison, WI. Each chapter focuses on a different character and starts off with a description of a featured garment along with it’s provenance.

More a 3.5 solid writing and engaging characters worked in favor of the book. Vintage items connected overlapping tales of friendship, love and loss. On the downside, I predicted much of the final third - no surprises, just comfort food, but the last chapter was too abrupt.

What a sweet book with three fantastic main characters, all at different points in life and all at crossroads where they must make big decisions. Violet owns a vintage clothing store and each chapter starts with an item that she has in the store or that is on its way in and has something to do with the action in that chapter - I loved this, it made the book feel uniquely vintage! Amithi is an older Indian woman who is an empty nester and is trying to find what really makes her happy at this moment in life. Finally, there is April and she is pregnant and very young and must figure out the path that she wants to choose.

VINTAGE is a nice book, in that it's warm, uplifting, and hopeful. I always like that in a novel. Unfortunately, everything else about it is pretty ho-hum. The characters are likable, but they're not unique, memorable, or even very well developed. You can feel a growing warmth between the three women at the center of the novel, but their relationship doesn't feel extraordinary or special in any way. I expected more from a book that is centered on friendship. The love stories feel the same—there's warmth, but no sparks. It doesn't help that VINTAGE doesn't have much of a plot, which makes it a slow read with little action to perk things up. To me, it felt overly long and dull. If I hadn't needed a book set in Wisconsin for a reading challenge, I probably wouldn't have bothered finishing this one.

A good recommendation for those that like Mary Kay Andrews and similar authors. A book about friendship and how we remember things by the clothes and accessories that we were wearing at the time. A touch of romance makes this book a refreshing read.
