A claustrophobic horror of an unnamed condemned soul thrust into a dark room, likened to a tomb.

Poe could have been clearer with some description, and I found the start a tad convoluted (though I understand the stylistic decision).

Still, a terrifying tale that I will remember.

It's obvious why he's had such an enduring appeal. Well crafted and dark

The haunting feeling of galloping insanity is palpable. The successive jumps from hope to despair, from marginal satisfaction at the slightest win of a failing mind to the unhinged derailment of a tormented psyche are vivid and unabated.
