A wonderful Christmas story about how Christmas REALLY became the Christmas we know and love today. It has everything you could possibly want from a Christmas novel! I would love to see this become a movie!

Il motivo per cui non mi è piaciuto questo libro è semplice: ho percepito che è stato scritto sull’onda di un tema molto di moda, quello del girl power. Più che altro non ho apprezzato la cosa perchè mi è sembrato un po’ piatto, un elemento buttato lì con delle frasi motivazionali tipo “le ragazze possono fare tutto”, ma senza mai approfondire la tematica in nessun modo.
Ci sono molti elementi carini e curiosi, come Eggnog o le varie Carol, ma anche in questo senso mi è sembrato tutto poco approfondito, per quanto piuttosto simpatico. Il “sogno” di Blanche per Natale mi è sembrato nascere un po’ da un nulla e anche le relazioni tra i personaggi sono un po’ stiracchiate.
Lo so che è un libro per bambini dai 9 anni, non pretendo una profondità di trama e personaggi da fare invidia a Guerra e Pace, ma citerei C.S. Lewis: “un libro per bambini non è degno di essere letto da bambini se non è degno di essere letto da grandi”.

An absolutely wonderful re-imagining of how Christmas came to have a Santa Claus and all the fun that comes with that. This is a kids middle grade book, but I'd recommend it anyway for a fun Christmas read!

A laugh out loud, unique and heart warming story of how an alternative Santa Claus came to be. Will stay with me for many Christmas’s to come. Now I need a mince pie picnic and a mug of hot chocolate.
