Although I think that reading about the challenges that people with chronic illnesses face is very important, I found Vagina Problems to be repetitive and I was hoping for more. After chapter 5 or so it felt like I was reading the same story over and over again without anything new added to it. I like that this book showcases a narrative that is not often acknowledged but I think it would've benefited from some additional research to support the first person account. I also found the title to be somewhat misleading, for I was expecting a comprehensive discussion of all "vagina problems". Instead, this book focused mainly on endometriosis and was predominantly a description of what Parker struggles with daily, which sometimes read as just a rant. This book feels more like reading Parker's diary than anything else.

Lara you're inspiring. Your strength in front of all your vagina problems is remarkable.
Thanks for writing a book for all those forgotten women. You're right, we need it. I need it. I learned more about my disease with this book and Google than in the hospital

I was drawn into the book for the first few chapters by how open and honest the author was. It started to get a bit repetitive after that. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.

Really liked this book. As someone with endometriosis and adenomyosis I could relate to so many things she talked about. It was a little bit repetitive at times and almost read as though each chapter was written as it’s own essay and then put together without removing redundancies. Because of that there were certain tidbits and statements that I was getting a little tired of hearing.

I loved this book. As someone who suffers from some of the same illnesses as Lara, this book really resonated with me. I found myself crying at times and laughing at others as she recounts her experiences that are oh so familiar to me. This book made me feel seen and I hope it will do the same for many others experiencing similar issues. It’s refreshing to read from lived experiences rather than just medical facts. This book will help anyone with similar illnesses feel less alone.

Like many reviews note, the second half of this book feels super unnecessary and just like a repeat of the beginning. BUT, while I don’t share ailments nearly to the extent the author does, that doesn’t mean I didn’t find parts of this book deeply relatable. I think any woman who has ever felt a pain that automatically gets filtered to “Unknown -> That’s Just the Way It Is For Women” will relate to this book.

So this was everything I ever want to tell you about living with a chronic illness and specifically endometriosis. I feel heard and seen and not so alone in this fight anymore. To ANYONE who cares about me, READ. THIS. BOOK. NOW. I have always loved Lara Parker but this just makes me love her even more.
