Victoria Aveyard remains one of my favorite authors of all time.
Also, if it's been a while since you've read the first one, you're gonna want to read a little summary of each character. There's a good one on the top reviews under the book. Eventually, I remembered most of the first book though.
She is so amazing at writing characters! I don't think I've ever read better villains. I almost forget they're villains half the time.
The romantic parts, while scarce, are super well placed and well written. The funny parts are awesome, and I feel like I'm part of the jokes. The battle scenes play out as if I'm watching it on a screen.
This book was more about politicking and war and stuff, which I didn't mind, but I do miss the traveling and comradery being the focal point.
Spoiler There was enough loss to make it feel like sacrifices were made without any of the really main characters dying

I feel like the plot didn't really move the story forward much. We're still where we were in book one; spindles closed and spindles to close, seemingly impossible to win against
Spoiler Erida and Tristain>.
I really really liked every side character introduced. They're diverse and super cool. Isadere was SO DOPE.
I'm so looking forward to the next one!!!!!

Much better read than the first. There was more action and less lengthy descriptions, likely because there was not as much worldbuilding that needed to be done.

The side characters shone in this stories, especially Sorasa Sarn, who will forever be my favorite character in this series.

Such a cliffhanger!!!

After closing the spindle, Corayne and the Companions seek allies to help defeat Taristan and Queen Erida and save their world. Considering this is a trilogy, I expected this book to end badly/sadly, but I really wasn't expecting it to be this depressing. I know that they're going to come back and win in the next book, but right now things look pretty bleak. #BladeBreaker #NetGalley
