I really struggled with this. I finished the first book and just couldn’t get through this one; which is unfortunate as I love this author. I think there were just too many POVs and it made it hard for me to really connect with any characters.

Victoria Aveyard really writes fantasy like no other! The world is so cool and interesting, all the characters are so well written and overall this just feels like a big adventure that I get to be a part of. The found family dynamic in this is so amazing and I loved seeing the characters grow closer together. The slow burns here are SLOW!!! But SO GOOD!! (It definitely had some *giggling, blushing and kicking feet* moments hihi)
Also really love the multiple POVs. While I am obsessed with the Companions and the little family they have become, reading the villain’s POV is so addictive as well and I knowwww they’re bad and what they’re doing is so wrong but reading her chapters makes me root for them sometimes?! There’s just something so intriguing about them. And while I would love to know what’s going on in Taristan’s head, it makes sense that we don’t have any chapters in his POV. He remains more of a mystery that way. But maybe we’ll get a glimpse into his thoughts in the next book? I’d love to see that.
Definitely liked this book a littleee bit more than book 1, because realm breaker confused me sometimes tbh, but that’s probably because the world was new and I had to get to know it first. Anyways, so excited to read book 3, I have no idea how this is going to end!!

This was a great sequel, did everything that a sequel should and I feel like it did do well at setting up a third book without feeling like filler. The character development and found family dynamic in this was amazing and I loved to see it. Victoria Aveyard really does write SLOW burns which is really refreshing to see. Can’t wait to read book three!
