Wow! What a surprising and powerful book filled with so many deep experiences of challenge, betrayal, loss, hope, reflection, growth, and love. Once I dove into this story I couldn't wait to find out what would happen next. Yoon created such interesting, unique and captivating characters with great character development and growth shown throughout the story. Sprinkled throughout the story were excellent lines that caused me to really think, connect the story to my own life, and also laugh out loud. This story took me through so many different highs and lows right along side the characters and left me feeling uplifted and hopeful.

I was debating what to rate this but to be honest I enjoyed it so much that it’s getting 5 stars. I started off not thrilled it was set in high school but that faded quickly. The family relationships, friendships, and romance all feel so real and believable. The romance is perfection… THE BANTER. The pacing is great, such an enjoyable easy read. I love how much was going on, the romance is only one piece of the puzzle. Overall fantastic and now its time to read more Nicola Yoon.

I thought this book would be light and fluffy, and it was for about the first two-thirds, until it took a turn I wasn't expecting. While I didn't like the turn at first, it did make the book's message about love and our choices about love much stronger. Overall I really enjoyed this story, the writing style, and the characters. (And the dancing! Though I wish there were more dance scenes.)

The last few chapters were a rollercoaster! Sadness in a romance novel T-T (crying face) Definitely a nice book to pick up if you're into dancing plus a bit of magical realism and thoughts on love and loss.

Good read, very fun and light-hearted. Not too plot-driven.
the ending is sort of bittersweet

i enjoyed the whole cast of characters and their individual journeys. I liked how there was a clear ongoing struggle with the mc's thoughts and actions
the whole concept of this book was really cool, esp with the magic aspect in it
left lots of questions, def will be philosophical and existential

- a good book to get you out of a reading slump. it's very easy to read. nice short chapters.
- i didn't really care about any of the characters. evie was very vanilla and wasn't very fleshed out.
- the weird magic was unnecessary. this was presented to me as a contemporary romance, so why is there magiccc??? it was never explained and i found it weird how evie never thought to tell anyone. i appreciate the idea behind the magic, but it was a little off-putting.
- i liked X. he was a cool character and i understood why evie fell for him. i also liked fifi, though she was a little creepy. favourite couples were maggie and archibald (super, super cute)
and sophie and cassidy (also cute. wish we saw more of them. they had so much potentiallll).

- the plot was pretty basic: girl doesn't believe in love. girl gets weird magic. girl meets guy. guy gets her to believe in love again. girl tries to push him away but fails. third act conflict. they get together again. the end.
- i did like that the ending was a little bitter sweet. it switches things up a bit.

girl who doesn't believe i love • hot hipster love interest • sparks and drama ensue
