Sarah J. Maas brings another delicious story to life with this first book in her series. I loved every second of reading it, I really felt like I was there with Bryce trying to put the pieces together too. I personally thought the ending seemed a tad rushed but that also could just be because I was reading at mock jesus.

9/10 would recommend. Only reason it’s not a 10/10 is because it didn’t really make me weep the way some of her other books have but of course this is just the first book of the series and you know I already bought the second one :)

Gosh dang it this book was nothing but a tease! Now I gotta get the second one from the library lol. I like the modern technology of it as it’s easier in my head to build the picture

DNF at 66%. I am so bored reading this book. So many unnecessary scenes. I also do not care about any of the characters. blah.

After reading TOG & ACOTAR, I am finding SJM's writing to be very, very repetitive. I can basically predict where the story is going to go, how the romance is going to unfold, etc. once the groundwork is laid. That in & of itself wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing if the characters themselves weren't repeats from the other book series she has written. It's gotten achingly predictable.

The first few chapters before
Danika & her crew were killed
was so interesting and promising. It was a big change of pace for SJM, and was refreshing. But, that was all wiped and we were introduced to the MMC aaaaaaand here we go again.

So, my standard review for an SJM book: A lot of promise, last 200 pages were fun, but I'm bored.

The book has its good moments, it just felt a lot like what i've read before from SJM. Nothing New except a lot of cussing and swearing. Spice was in fact non existent. World building was okay but there was occasionally times where the characters were going place in an order that didn't make any sense if you look at the map. Was a good detective story ngl. The Interactions between Hunt and Bryce are predictable but still entertaining. This book felt like a trauma bond central. Everyone has daddy issues or mommy issues or ex girlfriend issues or something along those lines. Overall Good book. not sure if i'll jump right into the 2nd book. took about 500 pages for the hook so...maybe the next one is better. The Ending is amazing so i'll give her that.
