I love it when Butcher writes stories about the other characters that populate his "Harry Dresden" series. Here, we follow events thru the view of Thomas Raith, a vampire of the White Court (they don't suck blood...that's the Red Court. Think more along the lines of succubus feeding off of someone's 'life force').

Thomas, relegated to supporting character in the Dresden Files series, gets his own novella, with entertaining results. Personally, I like Thomas better when he's not the narrator -- he lacks Dresden's humor -- but this was an enjoyable (not to mention quick) read.

I guess this is included in Side Jobs but I had it on my reading list for some time. This quick Novella features Thomas and it's a very quick read but helps add some more depth to his character and it's a nice change of perspective as well.

Wow, way short. I looked to buy this book for like six months, and nobody has it! Finally, a library got it, so I rented and read it in like two hours. Short, sweet, still funny, but not quite as funny as a whole Dresden Files book.

Quick short story in the Dresden Files from a different character's perspective - which was refreshing, but I felt the actual story here had more to it but that Butcher wanted to keep it short so the resolution was fairly quick.

This is a quick novella centered on Thomas, Harry's older vampire brother. Not much to say about. It's really for the die-hard Dresden fan. If you don't read the series on a regular basis, then I suggest skipping this novella. All-in-all it's quick trip into the Dresden world as seen by Thomas. You learn little bit about some of the behind the scenes stuff that not even Harry knows about. More importantly, you get to peek inside Thomas' head, which is a dark and scary place. My biggest complaint is that it's too short. Thomas can easily be a main character in a full length book.

A Dresden book, and yet not a Dresden book. Told in the first person by Thomas, Harry's brother, this adds new insight into both Harry and Thomas's characters. I enjoyed the change of point of view!

It was an enjoyable read, and a nice change of perspective from Harry. But I never got the impression that the character I was following was the Machiavellian manipulator that Thomas Raith (and anybody in his family) is supposed to be. It was fun, he was clever, but this book is too small to be much more than a morsel to tide you over until the next novel.

Nice addition the world of Harry Dresden. Shorter than I expected, but still a good read that expounded on Thomas.
