So this got better as it went along, at first I didn't like reading from Kalebs perspective but as things picked up plot wise I enjoyed the book more and got used to his voice.

Roller coaster ride of a book....just like the first one. I love how the author takes time travel but makes it way more interesting and exciting by adding characters who jump right off the page. Nothing is ever as it seems and even till the very end, I was convinced I knew exactly what would happen...but of course I was wrong. One the best things was having the first book from Emerson's point of view and then this one from Kaleb. Rally added a whole dimension to the story.

I was expecting something more from Emerson's pov as the first one had been and at first that threw me. I liked Emerson and wanted to see more of her. However, once I got into the book, it was refreshing and interesting to see things through Kaleb's pov, who was a secondary type of character in the first book. I liked that it wasn't the same story, but the same problem seen through another person's eyes. We got to know a lot more about Lily as well and I really liked this book. I'm anxious for the third to come out so the whole story can come to a conclusion and I'm curious to see if she's going to change pov to someone else this time. I'm rather hoping for Michael this time. In any case, a series that I am thoroughly enjoying and would reccommend.

Timepiece surprised me, made me laugh, and brought a little bit of confusion to my life. I loved Kaleb as the narrator. He never lied to himself and told it like it was with a little dash of humor (actually, a whole heaping spoonful). No matter how much I liked Emerson as the main focus in Hourglass, Kaleb was a breath of fresh air. His cocky attitude made me laugh out loud and the way he figures himself out throughout the novel is captivating.

Thank you, Myra McEntire, you are a great author

This series is all about blending genres: time travel, scifi, adventure, romance...and Myra McEntire does a fabulous job getting the mix just right. It took me a few pages to get into TIMEPIECE because it picks right up in the middle of the action and it had been a long time since I'd read HOURGLASS, but once I'd refamiliarized myself with the characters and the world, I was caught up and enjoying the ride.

Where much of HOURGLASS is about discovery: things are happening to Emerson that she doesn't understand, and she slowly discovers the truth about her abilities and the forces around her, this second book is all about putting that knowledge to use...and finding out that the forces are larger and more complicated than she ever expected. I loved the action in this book - people DO things and DISCOVER things and make things happen. We get lots of character development too, and some new intrigues and mysteries to set us up for book 3.

All this to say, TIMEPIECE is exactly what a sequel should be. It builds beautifully from book 1, while still maintaining its own story arc. It didn't feel like "filler" or a placeholder until the "BIG" climax in the final book in the trilogy. It held its own as an entertaining, page-turning ride. And now I'm ready for book 3, because of course, it DID raise the stakes and give me lots of excitement and drama to look forward to!

I just read Hourglass, which I borrowed from the library, when I saw Timepiece available on Netgalley and requested it right away. I'm so glad I did. I highly enjoyed Timepiece. I'm not usually a fan of time travel books because keeping timelines and stories straight can get tricky, for the reader and writer. However, I've loved the way McEntire has tackled time travel and the whole space/time continuum so far in this series. I've never felt confused or lost while reading either Hourglass or Timepiece. I do suggest, though, that you read one right after the other or visit Myra McEntire's Hourglass Recap Post. It'll help keep the details straight.

Timepiece picks up right after Hourglass lets off. And the action starts right away as well. We meet some new bad guys, learn lots more about time travel, gain some new allies, see more rips, and travel to new places. I don't want to talk too much about the plot because I'm finding it difficult to do so without giving stuff away. And you'll want to read about all of the surprises on your own.

The big difference in Timepiece is that it's told from Kaleb's POV. I was actually a big fan of Kaleb's voice and enjoyed it much more than Emerson's. I also liked getting to know his story better, I honestly didn't pay much attention to him in Hourglass. Timepiece was given a much less teen-angsty feel, due in part I think to the new voice. And while there is still some romance in the book, and it's done quite well, there is much less of the sparks-flying, all-I-think-about-is-him kind. So it was a nice change from Hourglass.

I was also glad to see much more of Lily, Emerson's best friend, in Timepiece. She was fun, smart, and just the right partner for Kaleb. One of my favorite parts of the book was learning about Kaleb's ability, how it connected him to people more than he thought and how Lily helps him understand what he can do. Unlike Emerson, Kaleb's always known about his ability, but hasn't worked or developed it quite as much as he could have. We get to watch him discover more about himself and transform from the person he was in the beginning of the series to the person he is at the end of Timepiece, someone I liked much better than I thought I would.

Myra McEntire has created a great time travel series in both Hourglass and Timepiece. Her pacing is wonderful, she always knows when to bring some suspense or tension into the picture and the story never drags. Timepiece ends on a huge cliffhanger, of course, so be prepared to wait a while to get the rest of the story. I can only imagine what Myra McEntire has lined up for the grand finale. I think it's going to be epic!

If you are a fan of time travel or just YA science fiction/paranormal books, go pick up the Hourglass series. I gave Timepiece 4 stars.

I had absolutely no idea that it was Kaleb’s POV in Timepiece. I expected Emerson and after reading the first few paragraphs, and being thoroughly confused because it was clearly a male POV, I went back to my homepage to reselect the book because I thought I picked the wrong one.

Timepiece is one wild ride. Only three chapters into the book and you are thrown for an insane loop. I was completely freaking out. There were a couple other moments like that as well, but none quite like that one.

Kaleb is giving Four a run for his money. I didn’t think I’d ever like any guy as much as I like Four, but Kaleb has all the right stuff. I liked him Hourglass but now he is one of my absolute favorites. I loved being inside his head, he had so many different crazy emotions, some inappropriate thoughts, and some humor. He’s a badass on the surface, but underneath all that you find someone who would go above and beyond to help his friends and family.

I loved the fact that this book was from Kaleb's point of view. Don't get me wrong, Michael and Emerson's story line is amazing. It was one of the reason's I loved Hourglass so much. But there was always something about Kaleb!! He was so much more than the hunky but sweet guy in Hourglass and I was excited to get to know him better. I was so blown away by what depth of emotion you learned about every character because of Kaleb's ability. It really gave you a great look into the characters.

That brings me to LILY!!! AHHH!!!! As a Mexican American woman who loves YA, WHOO HOO! We got a Latina lead character!!! I was so excited about Lily in Hourglass, hoping we would see more of her and her Abi! This was so great! She was strong and sassy. But even though Emerson and her are similar, it wasn't a repeat of Emerson. They are strong and kick butt in their own ways.

Now, one of my favorites things about this book and series is the romantic relationships. Relationships and true bonds are treated with such honor and a sense of specialness that you don't get to read about a lot in YA series. Kaleb's parents, Michael & Em and Kaleb & Lily are not just hormone amped lovers. It felt like with the whole aspect of each's unique gifts and the time continuum, that they were meant to be together. And together they were stronger and able to get through the crisis that they were presented. I know, I am a hopeless romantic. But I love this story and how it's not just that overpowering urge to be with some beautiful super powered hot guy or girl. It had depth and there was purpose and I LOVED IT.

Then there is the villain, Jack. This book really gets started fast and the action is pretty non stop. I was always a bit intimidated by time travel and all its complications. But Timepiece really does make clear what all is going wrong with the Rips and the timeline issues Jack created in the first book.

Overall, these characters, especially the strong girls are ridiculously cool! The girls really hold their own on the journey up against some seriously swoon worthy guys.

My only complaint is that I have to wait till next year for the next installment in the Hourglass series... Infinityglass!
