4.5 stars!

Time twisting adventure that brings in the Bluff City with ease, gets serious with the romance and stars a tatted up empath with a killer smirk? Yes.

This book wasn't quite as good as the first, but Ok still. I have to admit I was kinda sad when Kaleb moved on - I wanted him to still want Em so it would be a triangle. But boo-hoo for me.

didn't enjoy this one as much as Hourglass. Did not feel the relationship between Kaleb and Lily either.

full review to come.

Myra McEntire did it again. I loved Timepiece just as much as Hourglass. This time the story was told from Kaleb’s point of view, and before I read the book, I was unhappy about that. I tend to like female POVs more, and I was already used to Emerson’s voice. But Myra did a fabulous job of making Kaleb an interesting and believable voice.

In Timepiece, we already knew the main characters, so more time was spent on developing their personalities and time traveling abilities. Em’s bestie Lily plays a bigger role, and I liked the addition. We learned a little more about everyone, but obviously Kaleb was the focus. I liked learning his backstory and what made him such a manwhore. I also liked watching as he grew up and matured. He was honest with everyone, and went out of his way to protect and take care of his “family.” I liked how Kaleb said just what he was thinking and didn’t beat around the bush.

The dialogue was similar to Hourglass, but different, because of the different protagonist. Not better or worse, just different. All of the same fancy gadgets and time traveling doodads as in the previous book made an appearance, including a few new things.

The action was non-stop and there was a lot more happening in this book than the first one: more rips, more people with power and more back and forth time jumping. Several times, especially near the end, I wondered how it would be possible to wrap everything up by the end of the novel.

Myra has a real gift for story telling and creating these worlds where everything just fits together so seamlessly. The writing is smooth and just grabs you right from the start and doesn’t let go. The book just flies by, it’s so easy to get lost in their world.

Another beautiful cover, another pointlessly floating girl.

The sum up: A winning middle book in the trilogy. It advances the overarching story and tells its own at the same time. I can’t wait for the final book in the series.

Timepiece, the second book in the Hourglass series, surpasses the first book in it's awesomeness. The stakes are higher, the romance is hotter, and the mystery is even more suspenseful. Readers will be hooked from the very first sentence (which is the best first sentence ever!)

Hourglass is told from Emerson's point-of-view. Instead of doing the same thing with the sequel Myra McEntire switched it up and told Timepiece from Kaleb's point-of-view. While it is still the same story it is very different reading about it from Kaleb's point-of-view. Kaleb is very uncensored and blunt. He has not had an easy time of it and he is very lost and jaded. His voice is fun at times and very dark at others. I wasn't sure about the switch in the beginning but after finishing the book I realize it wouldn't have been as good any other way.

The stakes are so much higher in Timepiece. Not only do they face death, they face the threat of the world ending. The time continuum has been severely messed up and it's up to the teenagers to fix it. And while they are trying to fix it Jack is one step ahead screwing things up even more. Timepiece will make you race to the finish to see how everything ends.

While Kaleb is the main character in Timepiece there is still plenty of Em and Michael. They haven't changed at all since the first book. There is also more Lily, Ava, Dune, Nate, Jack, and Cat. Lily is fierce and amazing. Ava's softer side comes out in this one. Dune and Nate are their usual hilarious selves. Jack and Cat are more evil than ever. There are also some new characters introduced, both good and bad. And let me tell you, these bad guys are scary. They are pure evil! I hope a lot more is revealed about them in the next book.

Overall, Timepiece is a stunning sophomore novel from Myra McEntire. Her amazing writing, unique story, and Kaleb's charming voice will have readers enthralled and begging for more. Now whose point-of-view will be featured in the next book?

""The exact spot where the hourglass filters the sand from the future to the past. That's where we have to live, Kaleb. Before all the sand runs out, or before somebody shakes it all up again." ~ Emerson

wow, I had not expected to like this one as much as I did.
When Kaleb was first introduced in book 1, he came on STRONG! He was all over Emerson, stepping where (clearly) he shouldn't be because of Michael. So I was nervous at first, if I would like him.

but he was great! and I really like where his story went and I understand him much better. and wow, he grew a lot in this one too!

And the plot went along nicely as well. We have a lot of the explanations to things as well as thenext obvious step they are about to take. I can't wait to see where this goes!

My Favorite Line(s):
"You aren't my keeper, Lily."
"No one is. You're responsible for you. I'm simply reminding you that you're worth more than what you'll find at the bottom of a bottle."

"You are sweetness and light. Human cotton candy."

"Kaleb Ballard. That hurts me in my feminism."

Why I Loved It: I was so excited about the book that I didn't even bother to read a summary. I just barreled through the first couple of pages only to have to check back and realize that I was not reading from Emerson's POV. It was Kaleb Ballard. And my heart did a flip flop. A sad flip flop I'll admit because I already missed hearing Emerson's thoughts *which were really funny in Hourglass*, but I couldn't be sad for long because there was already so much swooning already taking place. Kaleb is just the perfect "bad boy" character. Mostly because he's really not that bad. I'm attracted to those guys that aren't bad all the time, but are perfectly capable when they choose. So the book was off to a great swoony start.

For me, this book gave so much more insight into not only Kaleb's world, but Michael's as well because they were more involved with the world of Hourglass and of course Jack. There is also a new group in town that are causing all kinds of chaos. The last book left off with so many questions. What does Jack want? What's he up to? How's he plan on accomplishing it? Is Emerson safe? Well Timepiece offered answers to all of those questions. I have to say that there were some questions I had that were left unanswered. Questions about Cat for instance. Either way, I felt like there was so much of the world that was shown.

There is also a person pretty close to home that turns out to have a special ability involving that time gene. Kaleb with the help of a pretty girl *of course* helps to save the time continuum and figure out much of his past and Emerson's as well. There is lost of space for swooning, drooling, and maybe a few tears too.

Myra McEntire made a couple days of my life very fabulous. I love the humor throughout the books, and the fabulous plots. This book is a must-read.

Who Really Must Read It: The genre is more sci-fi/fantasy with the whole time travel thing, but anyone who loves a good story should get busy and buy this next month. If you haven't read Hourglass then you have time to get it read before Timepiece comes out!
