I was really hopeful for this book. Unfortunately MG's whiplash of, "I am woman, here me roar! I am the most badass geek chic lady around" in one sentence compared to her, "omg he's just so cute! Maybe I should just drop my armor for minute" wasn't for me.

I really wanted to like this - the premise is really fun. Unfortunately, I found the main character really smug and reckless.

My nerdy little heart really enjoyed this book! I couldn't put it down, but of course now I'm sad that I have to wait forever for the next installment! But I just love MG and Matteo the Muggle, whom I now call M&M. Definitely recommend!

I love the idea with MG being a super nerd and female comic book writer, but I feel like Molin overdid it. We got it. She's a female comic book writer who also happens to be hot and well-endowed. While I get that MG is a rarity, it made her seem condescending to the rest of the characters. She had an attitude about her that just didn't sit well with me, sort of like those people who boast that they discovered something before it became famous. I feel like Molin put too much emphasis on MG being a hot, female comic book writer. It made MG sort of like a chihuahua who keeps barking to prove her worth. Her romance with Matteo seemed a bit forced and rushed and nothing that I could really commit to or actively ship. MG felt like the typical protagonist who decided she needed to take things into her hands despite being out of her depth. I feel like this was briefly touched upon, but not really explored. Also, MG's name begs for an explanation of why her parents decided to give her a male name. It was a simple book that didn't really provide any twists and turns that made me sit on the edge of my seat.

It was fine, a little too name-droppy with the fandoms (like how many references do you really need to cram in to emphasise geekiness?! It wasn’t done in a particularly graceful way, more of a “shoe horn another one in” manner. (Also, lol Wash being Matteo’s patronus)

It was fine. The action was fine, the romance line fine, the reveal, fine. I didn’t love it, but didn’t hate it. I’m kind of annoyed that the GA reveal was withheld, assuming it’s to encourage you to read the following books, but honestly, I don’t know if I want confirmation bad enough to read more of the same.

I did love the drag queen parts. The bants and sequins were fabulous. I’m glad they were woven in.

This book reeks of 'not like other girls' energy. The main character is a geek and - shock horror - also a woman. I expect better from a female author who proclaims herself to be a geek too. The plot was basic, with endless references to pop culture (which I like) - but tell it like it is! 'Geek' is pretty normal really, and that's okay.

This was fun but it tried reeeaally hard. I also disliked the main character pretty thoroughly the first few chapters (she eventually won me over).

This was a fun mystery. I wouldn’t call it young adult fiction but I feel like it was written for people younger than me (or maybe just people more into comics than me?)! I still enjoyed it though.
