a few things that bothered me:
-by book 5 I should not be getting introductions on characters I've known since book 1.
-every other chapter doesn't have to end with "well, hell." or any other variations of that.
-I'm over Zoey being in a "love triangle" (or square by the end of this book).

what I liked:
-still more interesting (to me) than Twilight.

SYNOPSIS:
The House Of Night has changed. Instead of it being a placed surrounded by peace for Vampyre Fledglings it is filled with darkness all thanks to the High Priestess gone bad, Neferet and her new love, Kalona. Kalona claims to be a god but Zoey knows who he really is. A fallen angel, a demon raised to wreck havoc. Now that Neferet has learned to raise the darkness will her she fulfill her wish to make war with the humans? Not if Zoey Redbird and her friends can help it!

REVIEW:
This book was amazing! I loved the ending (which I will not spoil for you). Not to mention on top of fighting off darkness little miss Zoey has gotten herself into some boy trouble again, this girl! It seems to be almost impossible to stick to only one boyfriend! But hey with 3 hot guys fighting for you, who can blame her? I really enjoyed this novel, P.C. and Kristin Cast make it a really nice teen read that almost any teenager would love! So much action and romance, this book seems to have a bit of everything. There are some parts of the novel that really touch your heart and the authors have a way of making you scream with joy or shed tears of a loss of a beloved character. I loved this novel and I can't wait to get my hands on Tempted! (Which is actually waiting for me on my bookshelf!! eep!)

I love Darius and his unconditional love for Aphrodite touches the cackles of my heart. And I love Stark. The end of the book when Stark was going to sacrifice himself for Zoey killed me. I love the imagery of the Raven Mockers and the caves and the awful weather going on. The writing has gotten better as the books go on. To number 6!

Oh. And dialogue is still obnoxious, but slightly better than previous books.

This book was unnecessary. There are like four important events that happen within the story. There was no need to spend 300 pages on it. I hesitate to use the word boring as a descriptor, but in this case it's the exact right word to use.
I do think it's hilarious that Darius whips out a gun. Actually lmao.

The fifth installment in the House of Night series, Hunted, continues the saga of Zoey Redbird and her coven. While the core story holds some intrigue,  several factors significantly hamper the reading experience.

Repetition is a major culprit.  Readers are constantly bombarded with rehashed information about characters' sexual orientations, appearances, and backstories. This not only feels patronizing but also disrupts the narrative flow.

Excessive recapping further bogs down the plot.  Instead of propelling the story forward, a significant portion of the book regurgitates details from previous entries.  This approach assumes readers lack the ability to retain information, which is frustrating for fans invested in the series.

The plot itself feels stagnant.  Zoey and her companions spend a large chunk of the book hiding and making minimal progress.  Forced plot devices like Zoey's impulsive actions and convenient prophecies further diminish the narrative tension.

The portrayal of the goddess Nyx is particularly perplexing.  While she actively intervenes at times, Nyx inexplicably remains silent during a critical school takeover.  This inconsistency makes her motivations unclear and weakens the narrative logic.

Overall, Hunted is a disappointing entry in the House of Night series. The repetitive writing, excessive recapping, and sluggish plot make it a slog to get through.  Devoted fans might find some redeeming qualities, but newcomers are likely to be turned off by the book's shortcomings.
