This is time travel at its finest and told in such a light and amusing fashion. (although it does get more serious as it goes on) This world we live in now isn’t supposed to be this way. We go through alternate realities, etc... you’ll just have to read it. I found it entertaining and just a slight bit confusing, but that’s what you get with time travel. Enjoy!

Thank you, Elan Mastai, for ending a mediocre - book-wise - 2018 on a very high note for me!

This book has everything I like and more. Time travel, twists, unexpected turns, short chapters, clever narration technique, freshness, mind rattling thoughts.

Absolutely outstanding.

And all that in the author's first novel. Can't wait to read more.

Was nogal vaag / onbegrijpelijk.

Besides the fact that this could use a little editing it's a pretty decent book. The main character is an asshole but for some reason as he's telling the story you still feel for him. Tom's life is pretty crappy but to be fair he has no aspirations to improve it until his eyes are opened to how good he actually had it once he loses it all...well not all. He gains more then he lost and is content to just coast some more when it's all threated to be taken away again. It's only then that he actually get his shit together to save the day. The story is interesting too in that we see what we could have our selves and how bad it could be if we don't change something but that change doesn't have to be total reset or loss.

This novel takes an interesting approach to time travel, and I like both the science of it, the worlds introduced, as well as the fact that the main character is nobody special. However, I really dislike the treatment of women in this story.

SpoilerOther reviews told it very well - they are all victimized, used and/or sexualized by men they love or trust. The downfall od Penelope and swapping her for softer, more conventional love interest Penny feels especially wrong in the general context of the story.

Incredible plot and beautiful writing. Don't often get both of those, Mastai is an amazing writer.
