I was not at all impressed by the final books of Season 8, and the ending of the first part of the Freefall arc almost had me toss the book away in frustration.
The ending, however, is very powerful and surprised the hell out of me. I only wish the rest of the book could have done the same.
Really, my feelings can be summed up in one word: 'Zompire'.

Some of the art is just... wrong. But I do love the Buffy-speak dialogue -y. I'm not sure I love this story arc, particularly because the Twilight/seed arc of Season 8 felt waaaay off track, but I'm hopeful, as always.
Also: #22 for the year, 2014, just under the wire. I hit my reading goal. Huzzah!

2.5 stars. The plot was actually pretty enjoyable but the artwork left a bad taste in my mouth. I remember all of the characters in the season 8 run were recognizable but in this collection I struggled to figure out who was who which is ridiculous since I've known these characters for over a decade.

I'm not sure if I really like the art in Buffy comics, but of course I love the stories because I seem to love everything Whedon writes. If I had liked the art I would have given this four stars.

Good start. Wonder if it's a feint that Whedon seems prepared to undo the conclusion to season eight
