This is a LOT of stuff in a book. Darker themes than I normally read, with a lot of sex. Their relationships are pretty twisted, but they somehow work. A fun re-read. Kinks: degradation, humiliation, domination/submission, femdom, primal play, impact play, dub con. There is also MM.
Graphic: Rape, Violence

Holy crap. I am so impressed with this book. It was such a different storyline to anything I’ve read before. I loved how badass Nik was. To start with I was worried I was going to be confused with the characters but it quickly fell into place. I loved all the guys, I loved how they all came together. OH AND THIS BOOK IS HOT! Yes yes yes to all the spice

picked this up bc ppl said it was incredibly dark. i gotta say, haunting/hunting adeline is significantly darker than this book, so i wasn’t disappointed, per se, but i wasn’t sick to my stomach reading it either.
i really fuck with vas and sacha. oli and bodhi seem pretty run of the mill RH characters, and they’re cute and whatever, but the russians are a different level.
i did read a few reviews complaining about all of the new names and faces at the end, and i agree to an extent. i imagine everything will be explained in the next 2 books so im not stressed, but a bit more context would’ve been useful.
also, totally unnecessary to add a nonbinary character and then have the guys immediately misgender them.

This is a real thought provoking reverse harem romance that plays with boundaries, hard limits, kinks in many forms, consent, power and ownership over your desire and body. It is dark and violent with aggressive scenes and plenty of revenge. If dark and violent with non consent isn't your thing then best to take note of the author's trigger warning.
However, if like me, you like to test your own literary limits and fall in love with a sexually confident, dominant (and submissive), kick ass female lead with an equally intriguing harem of mercenary men, then Hard Limits is a brilliant read. The sex is different with each combination of men and the chemistry is intense.
Nic is a woman of power and experience. She is a call girl with a very strong ownership of her body her sexuality, kinks and desires. I loved the theme of consensual play and testing limits within trusting relationships (whether paid for or not). Nic owns the interactions in the story and even when things are non consensual she is able to breaks things down transactionally. Her body with consent is different to her body as a way to support herself. And let's not skip over the serial killer element to her character seeking revenge on disrespectful Johns.
The men of the story are the most intriguing harem I have come across. The Russian brothers Sacha and Vas both have very different needs but gain a lot emotionally from their connection with Nic. Vas was by far my favourite from the very first scene he has with Nic. His possessive protection of her is very base and caveman-esque. Oli and Bodhi are established partners but are strengthened through their connection to Nic. I loved the chemistry between these three and their twisted love of blood play. Bodhi is adorably soft and seems to need almost maternal care from Nic. He is the hardest to read but easiest to love.
On the whole this book was something very different for me. Not always an easy read but highly sexually charged and boundary pushing. I cannot wait to continue the series with Nic and her men to see how it all progresses.

This was meh AF
I was so excited to find a FMC that didn't NEED her love interests for money. She has a history with women (rare, so love this!), she empathetic without being a doormat, she has interesting hobbies (!), she's not a whiny damsel or rude without reason.
But the writing is ho hum despite the ostensible promise of the premise. The color is lacking, the writing didn't conjure images for me—which is a rare experience for me. The sex scenes were weirdly tepid for being so aggressive. They should have been good, the plot was fine but other reviews make it sound like this book devolves into an f-fest and I'm so bored of that, it ruins too many solid plots and this plot wasn't as solid. I can't take read another 200 pages without comedy, real romance, thrills, overwhelming feels, or solid setting building.
This is a book that would have benefited from some snappy bantern to make up for its generic tone

Incredibly dark and spicy. On page descriptions of everything. A truly wild start to the ride.
