I’m between two and three stars for this book. The romance came out of no where. There was no build up emotionally or really physically before they were head over heels, heart eyed for each other. There was no development either. It was really them jumping from point A to point B without any conflict or anything else that shows their connection growing.

I also did not like the MMC. To me, he was too pushy and whiny about everything. Just because he saw no problem with them being together does not negate her reasoning on being hesitant. She was afraid of losing the only family she had. His backstory with his ex went nowhere. There was a lot of build up in the beginning about their relationship but it’s like they forgot about her and how messed up he was about her just the day before.

Lastly, this follows a very similar timeline to the first book in this series and it was not my favourite choice. There was a lot of repetitive scenes and scenes that were not necessary for this story but I guess they were in because they were crucial to the previous story. Adding this to a story where I was already not believing the romance, made me feel disconnected to these characters. Some of those scene should have been cut and use the space for the two main characters to develop their relationship more.

There were some aspects I liked. This author’s books are never written poorly. I enjoyed their romance once I adjusted to the jump, and the smut scenes were very fun.
