I was gifted this book by a Secret Elf this year and I feel so lucky! This is the first book that I have read by Reese Morrison and I can guarantee it won't be the last. Reese did a really good job about educating on Hanukkah while writing a very inclusive novel.

"Most people like vacations. And Christmas. They both make Adam want to scream. And kick things. Anxious, lonely, Jewish, and in serious need of a Daddy, Adam finally loses it in the lobby of his favorite BDSM club--right in front of the guy he's been crushing on.
Tate's been dreaming about Adam for a long time. Trying to pick him up for a scene seemed to scare him away, and he worries that Adam wasn't as accepting of his transgender status as he'd hoped. But when the sobbing boy seeks comfort in his arms, he hopes this can be another chance.
When Tate learns how invisible Adam feels being Jewish during "the holiday season," he sets out to win his boy over by making him his for Hanukkah. He plans to spoil him with eight nights of affection, laughter, and submission, showing Adam that he can be the Daddy that he deserves. But will it be enough for Tate to keep him after the holiday's over?
The Traditions series follows the Jewish calendar in making old traditions new and bringing romance to life. The series features many transgender, genderqueer, and gender-bending characters, as well as BDSM elements. As the series is united by a theme rather than characters, the books may be read in any order."

DNF @ 50% - parts are largely inaccurate when concerning Judaism, both when it comes to religion and history, to the point it’s just antisemitic

  • adam is a white jewish gay cis man with anxiety and tate is a white secular-christian mspec trans man, daddy-boy dynamic/kink; chinese-american and mommy-little SCs
  • tropes &such: long-time crush to lovers, hanukkah, soft and caring
  • this was really sweet and generally done with such care!
  • appreciated the education on judaism and jewish traditions, as well as tate’s worries about transphobia and adam’s understanding and handling of them

This was such a great story. I felt so bad for Adam and how alone and forgotten he felt but Tate did everything he could to make him feel loved and wanted. Tate was such a sweetheart, I liked how he was the right amount of stern and sweet. They were just perfect together and I wishI would have gotten to see them past the end of Hannukah.

I received a copy of this book and am giving an honest review

I wanted something short and sweet, and this perfectly delivers. I love Adam’s relationship with his Jewishness and the way Tate used Hanukkah as a time frame to start building a relationship, while also learning about what being Jewish means to Adam and how to celebrate the holiday in a way that feels meaningful. I also really enjoyed the caregiver/little dynamic and would have loved seeing more domestic scenes between the two of them. I also utterly adored the anxiety rep and found it to be extremely relatable. Overall this was a cute, sweet story that perfectly hit the spot.

When Adam’s bad day only gets worse. He finds himself at the club that has always felt safe to him, there he runs across Tate and more Christmas. It all comes to a boiling point for Adam, but Tate is there to catch him. Will these two find their way to something special or will it all spiral out of control?
I really enjoyed Adam and Tate’s story. The two fit well together and the love that they have for each other shows through in all that they do. I loved seeing the way Tate understands Adam and sees his needs as special and not as problems. Adam sees Tate as the person he is and loves all of him. Their story is a sweet and hot read. Tate takes the time to learn about Adam and his beliefs and the two begin to enjoy themselves and work towards happiness. It was nice to see Adam blossom and dhow his true self with the help of Tate. This is an engaging read with well developed characters and a good plot. I was quickly immersed into the story and its characters.
