This author isn't my favorite. His writing style kept me captivated, but the content now and then was... iffy.

More sci-fi than horror. This is my first John Saul book, so I'm not sure if that's his thing or if this was an exception to the rule.

Shadows starts out like a TV afterschool special: super-smart kid is constantly picked on at school, gets depressed and suicidal. Single mom working hard, trying her best to support him. All hope seems lost before they learn of a school for super-smarties.

The plot takes a while to develop, but the last 200 pages or so are a fun ride.

I read this book in high school back in the 90's, and was totally creeped out and amazed. It's a mystery/ thriller with a twist of science. It may be a little dated now. Now we have an internet and cell phones, this could affect enjoying the book. But most young adults in particular may still find it just as enjoyable as I did.

Another fast read from Saul. Very well written with fantastic twists and turns. A real page-turner!

One of the worst translations I have ever read. Almost ruined the reading experience.
The book was filled with cringe-worthy cliches, but I could forgive it for trying to go into too many technical details for 1992.
Reinforces my opinion that Stephen King is The King.
