This book was really awesome. No third act break up. Alphahole who doesn't run away as soon as she says "I love you" literal touch her and you die. My only problem was there were two an entire chapters describing how she was SA'ed in detail. Truly there's nothing that would make the amount of detail she used for those chapters.
NOTHING happened except them having the hots for one another. I usually don’t mind an age gap (actually, one of my favorite books is Older by Jennifer Hartmann) but this was just so creepy and brain dead. Didn’t want to waste another second reading this one.

Oh my! What did I just read! It's not for the faint hearted as it has some really really disturbing scenes so please check trigger warnings before. I actually read it in one sitting, it was that captivating. And though it has some inaccuracies I pretended not to see them. Off to the second book.

Meh. This book was pretty hyped, and wasn't quite what I expected. Somewhat difficult to get into, but still enjoyed some of it.
3.5 stars. It's chaotic. I was so not ready and really should've read the tw's. It was a lot and I'm kinda mad it ends with so much unfinished. I feel very emotionally raw and torn after reading this but now I have to read the next book because I must know where this mess goes and how it gets better.
I really don't know how well I can review before I read the next book because of so much being unresolved in the end. I will say it was a very slow burn in the beginning and a small bit confusing for me since I started with book 4 (due to an Instagram reel that lured me into reading this book next even though I don't have kindle limited right now. So I used my boyfriend's Kindle to read since he has KU rn.)
I feel like I need more time to think of this book like it needs to settle because like it's still processing. Might come back to rewrite/add to this later.

If you like dark romance read this my god read this, but as always check the triggers that's really really important in this book as there are some very explicit scenes that could be an extreme trigger for some people

This book had the bones to be a really good story but it kept taking these sharp turns that I didn’t enjoy. I was here for the her being pregnant with a mafia heir, and them using her as bait. I was here for him being drawn to her. I was here for him and his wife being platonic for her to have standing in the family, so why have ANOTHER woman. I have such a pet peeve when the man HAS to get out his sexual frustration and has sex with another woman.

I have waited for this book for -months- to finally be out and let me tell you it did not disappoint one damn bit.
From the updates and teasers Nicci had been giving us I already knew Clay was going to be good; but I wasn’t ready for the level of GREAT that he is. From the attention to little details of her to his deliberate and active use of the command in his voice; and not just with Fawn but with everyone.
Oh and the scene where he goes completely feral? Top tier for damn sure.
While Fawn could’ve easily been written as demure and fragile to touch, she may come off like that at first, but it doesn’t take long at all to see that her strength and her prowess comes from within that is released when she needs it; then eventually exudes her power. She starts off timid and needing to have a front, to bringing Clay Butcher to his knees.
This is book one of a duet and I can already tell book two is going to be absolute fireworks.
