a lot of these of these were pretty, buuut i'm only giving it 2 stars because:
1. my queer ass didn't like the amount of heteronormativity in this and i'm a stubborn bitch
(example: "When you look at her,
if you do not feel
blessed to have her.
She is not yours to keep.
She is another man’s blessing.")
sHE COULD ALSO BE A WOMAN'S BLESSING OKAY
OR SHE COULD BE HER OWN FUCKING BLESSING CAUSE NOT EVERYONE WANTS A RELATIONSHIP AND A WOMAN'S PURPOSE ISN'T TO BE SOMEONE'S
2. there was some slutshaming which ew?? let people live, their sex lives are none of your business. if a woman wants to sleep around and have 5 one night stands a week that's her choice and her right.
(example 1: "If they have yet
to fall in love
with your naked soul,
your naked body
should not be available
for them to make love to."
example 2: "If only you picked your man
in the same manner
you choose which selfie to post,
which outfit to wear,
or which restaurant to eat at."
example 3: "Perhaps if you wait
for a husband
and stop treating
boyfriends as kings,
you will no longer kiss the wrong frogs.")
honestly just... wtf
3. there was a lot of christianity and i'm not religious. i didn't have an issue with it but it just didn't really speak to me. i feel like a religious person might enjoy this much more than i did, so if you are i recommend this.
okay end of rant.
so yeah, other than those things i did actually really like some of the poems. while some were problematic (see point 1 & 2) others were very feminist and empowered women, and those were honestly really good in my opinion. idk i have a really mixed opinion about this. it's a really light read so maybe check it out yourself.

Had Some Good Ones But Not Worth the Buy
This style of poetry, with only a few lines, has become a popular trend and when it is done, can be very powerful and meaningful but I felt that these poems were more just insightful things one can say to a friend. I liked the theme of it, trying to empower women and making them feel beautiful and amazing but I felt that the poems weren't really reaching the mark. It was fine, I wouldn't suggest the read to anyone but it was a good idea.

“Maybe you should not have given them so much of you.
Maybe you would have never known a little of what love tasted like if you didn’t, nor would you have learned that you can be enough for someone, yet, too much for
them.”

I was dying to have this book, but for some reason had never heard of the elementary level of the poems. The heart behind them is great, but they have a very “roses are red” air about them. Not my taste.
