I liked seeing what Chris and Jenzy’s relationship looked like and how it got so bad that they were splitting up, but I didn’t like how Chris’ reaction was handled.
Chris doesn’t really believe/understand why Jenzy’s leaving him and when he gets the divorce papers, the author tries to make the situation humorous and I didn’t like that.
This book had a good beginning but I didn’t like how the author chose to deal with the characters’ reactions to the divorce. I wanted to see Chris grovelling and maybe that happens later in the book, but so far the author is putting Chris in ridiculous situations that I think are supposed to be funny.
I might still try other books by this author as this book wasn’t written badly, it just wasn’t for me.
I hate myself for reading this. This book is the worst thing that has ever happened to me.
I picked up this book because i saw it recommended as "marriage in crisis/ troubled marriage" romance book. I don't know why but i've been very starved for this trope for a long time so i picked it up because how bad could it be :D? And boy was it bad BAD
There was no angst just second hand embarassment the characters had the personality of a wet whitebread there was absolutely no chemistry between the main couple NONE like if you are going to give a troubled marriage give the angst, show the lingering feelings between the couple, show me how the man gets on his knees and beg for forgivness. But no the only thing i got was the husband being a total dick to his wife, belittle her and her interests, forgetting her birthday contineously and shutting her off whenever she wants to communicate bc he "doesnt have the time" because of course he has an important job, he brings his job up every 2 sentences but lord knows i've never seen the man work in the book. So after years of putting up with his shit the wife gets fed up and wants a divorce and our prince charming goes ":o but you're my wife" BITCH she doesnt want to be that any longer

I liked this story. It was kind of crazy and i laughed out loud at some parts. The dialogue between the two brothers is sooo funny.
The conversation with his mum and the unhappy couple is hilarious. The way he works to get her back is sweet and the fact she feels its too late and it won't last is realistic.
The wife feels ignored as their relationship has changed and he barely listens to her and belittles her views. They are very different, he is organised and a company man, she is a hippie type into alternative therapies. The things that drew them together also cause issues, this is how things can be between couples particularly over time, instead of looking at things in a positive way foibles irritate.
I really enjoyed.
I wasn't keen on her pursuing another relationship while still married but the author explains this as she views the marriage has been over for 2 years, its just she has only just left and divorce is filed so she feels so neglected and negative about herself she is trying to move on with her life. The problem is the husband has only just become aware their relationship has ended, he thought they were okay.
The scene where he follows her on a date is hilarious.

I actually like this better the second time reading it. Prob won’t read again, but def a good read. Not interested in second book.

Okay, this was an emotional one, especially at the end. For the first half I was quite a bit annoyed with Chris. Oh, who was I kidding, I was annoyed at him for like 80% of the book. He was a colossal asshole. Seriously? Two years of rejection? And he thought he still deserved her?
*deep breath*
It also got really tiring with the push-and-pull between those two. I mean, he had treated her like garbage since the beginning and I’m just— WHY DID YOU PUT UP WITH HIS SHIT, BABY GIRL? He was (is? IDK) ashamed of you and your ways since the beginning. UGHHHHHHH
All right, after all those shitty things going on for like 80% of the book, things started to get better and from there I felt like I could give this book a 4-star. Sure, it made me cry like a baby, but can’t do 5 stars because of the ridiculous half-assed grovelling from Chris. It got to the point that I agreed that she should pick [spoiler] instead of Chris, but oh well.
Jenzy was amazing, I love her. So positive and patient, and she knows when to quit. QUEEN. She’s a large part of why this book deserves a 4. It’s Chris that I have a problem with. Ugh. Fucker.

I did not think that there was a world where I could see myself rooting for Chris or want the two of them together. But it happened.
This book made me sob and I probably shouldn't have read it so soon after my own parents divorced but dear god this one is a rollercoaster and actually has some nuances as to how people drift apart and maybe find back together and past hurts and how you can or can not overcome them.
Seriously, this is not an easy book to read and I don't think I'll ever re-read it, but it was really goo.
