The kind of book you can't put down. The kind of book that will consume you.

I wanted to like this story, especially because the writing is so beautiful.  The words, and scenes are a cross between poetry and art.

It is the ultimate manic pixie dream girl vs depressive demon nightmare boy, I felt it was trying too hard and was somehow ¿oversaturated?

This book ripped me in half in so many ways and I will never forget it. It is very slow burn so I definitely opted to savor it so I didn’t get burnt out but as I neared the ending I couldn’t put this down. I was actually sobbing near the end it was so beautifully written. This book is an absolute masterpiece and it will be one of my top recommendations forever.

can I just say that all of the characters deserved so much better, I mean I know he’s supposed to be the "villain" but poor Luc just wanted someone to spend some time with and the fact that Addie had to leave Henry actually tore me in half. And Henry being revealed as the “writer" of the book is actually icing on the cake and is one of my all time favorite tropes.

+ interesting & fun concept
+ really liked the relationship between addie and luc
+ addie was, at times, an entertaining protagonist
+ luc was a fascinating character
+ lgb characters

- lots of missed opportunities, considering the time periods and places the book covers
- eurocentric & extremely white
- boring setting (come on, nyc?)
- weird to throw in some real-life historical persons for no reason
- repetition
