Amazing and thought provoking. If you want to change the way you think about God and religion .. this is the book. It will take you places that you might not want to go, but you will be glad you did!

This is a relatively good study to force you to focus more on God's will for your life, but like so many Christian resources, it is written in a rather banal manner with discussion questions that are too obvious for anyone to want to answer them, and the author seems to focus too much on money/offering issues. I give it three stars only because I know so many people whom it truly affected; as for myself, I find that I don't really relate to God through these types of popular studies.

Loved this book. It was initially slow going, but felt the Lord speaking/convicting me at certain points. I have been quick to share the stories in this book to those around me. The coolest part was reading over a passage which shared that it’s possible for God to be active around you and you don’t recognize it, as in the story of 2 Kings 6:17 when Elisha’s servant’s eyes were opened to see the horses and chariots of fire around him. That morning, Kip had just shared that SAME story with me as we were talking about Old Testament passages and the differences in culture/lifestyle during that time period. All in all, loved the book and truths (albeit hard sometimes) that it shared.

I can see how this book continues to be popular - lots of anecdotes, plenty of enlarging upon the theme, good discussion questions for group work.

There is a reason this book is a classic that will continue to stand the rest of time. It is based on the word of God and revelation given to a deeply spiritual author who puts God first. Easy to see why so many reviewers felt their lives had changed after reading this book. I love that this book is approachable to all levels of readers. Great and memorable real life stories throughout the book proving the tenets being taught.

It took me almost three months to finish this workbook and video series, but I found the entire process to be very fulfilling. The book I read is about Christianity, but it's not merely about following religious rituals. Instead, it emphasizes developing a personal relationship with God. This material has had a profound impact on my life. PS, I recommend a slower pace because there’s a lot of material

This ended up being a DNF for me. I just couldn't get into the writing style; also, reading other reviews gave additional insight into book contents that gave me pause on continuing further. I sure appreciate that insight!

It is exactly what you can exepect from the title. On some topics I did not agree with the author ( his world view for example) but I felt this book was a very thoughtful one, you can see how he has iterated this content through time working at multiple churches and with different people, and how his life work has help built a path to better know god, so if the tittle says something to you... you should be really be reading this book

This book was quite a journey. It was recommended to me by someone who I trust, so even though parts of it made me feel uncomfortable, I did decide to push through and try to get to the meat of the book rather than reacting in fear and discarding it. I ended up being glad I did. While it's not perfect, I really liked the point the Blackaby makes about relationship with God being a 2-way, loving relationship. I like the idea that prayer is 2 way communication, and it rang true to me given some of the ways I have seen God communicate with me recently.
