There are some triggers: death of a spouse, loved one, talk about suicide, and sexual assault

It started out in a typical way of a down trodden person trying to find the magic, very cute. Some triggering events towards the event but overall a fairly enjoyable book.

I really liked this book at the beginning because it didn’t feel like a normal Christmas romance novel. The problems were real and the characters were relatable. However, I hated the ending. Everything just felt like it wrapped up a little bit too nicely. Not to mention, all of Kate’s problems were solved by Daniel and not through something she did (except for Jack’s school) and I’m really bothered by that.

Blech! More than two thirds of this book were so depressing that I wanted to call the hotline that Daniel volunteered at. Kate had every possible horrible scenario thrown at her and even though - spoiler alert - it all gets tied up with a nice red bow at the end, that was a rushed 20 pages of joy. This was definitely not the happy Christmas story I wanted to read. I really should've DNFed it but I kept hoping for more.
