Angel books are not something I'd normally go for. Basically anyone who has ever tried to talk to me about books can tell you this. However, I've found this series to be a complete exception. Truthfully, I was hesitant to read the series because of the whole angel/demon thing. But my hometown library has a very small selection of books, and Sweet Evil was the only one that I hadn't read yet that I could get at the time, so I picked it up. A day and a half later I've completed the entire series, and I'm sad to see the story go. However, I'm glad it ended when it did because this seems like a series that could've been dragged out far too long and gotten annoying. (Not that the books annoyed me - I just hate having to read 7 books for them to accomplish what was started in the first one!)

I do think that these books are something you've got to go into with an open mind, though, and I don't think they'd be for everyone. But at the same time, I think they're worth giving a chance. I had doubts going into them, to say the least. However, halfway through the first I kind of stopped for a second and thought, "Wait...am I actually enjoying these?" And I really did! Yes, there were parts that seemed extremely convenient, and it was somewhat predictable, but I found myself loving them all the same. The Neph thing was written creatively enough that the plot in these actually interested me! So I'd say that even if books like this aren't really your cup of tea, give them a shot. You might be pleasantly surprised.

Such a fast paced closer, and it didn’t disappoint. I love an easy read, but a story line that’s good enough to keep me hooked. I enjoyed this story and the epilogue had me in tears. An amazing end to a great story.

The epilogue was a redemption for this book 'cause I'm a sucker for a happy ending.
Unfortunately, I still dislike Anna during the course of this book.
I still can't thin of why I have an apprehension towards her. Probably because she kept saying love conquers all, and making googly eyes at Kaidan, and praying during battle and won.
*sigh*
I was hoping she'd be more bad-ass.

Wow.

Ms. Wendy Higgins just perfectly wrapped up this series. From the start of this series to its conclusion, everything is consistent, balanced and that ending is damn epic! I JUST LOVE IT! Sweet Reckoning is just a wonderful, satisfying conclusion. It wasn't rushed and every important detail in the story is perfectly executed. Everything just exceeded beyond my expectation. This is really how you end a series. A total hands down.

The transition of the story is indeed fast-paced and I can't stop reading. I fell in love with this series so much and it's been a long time since I'm hooked in a Paranormal series. I miss that kind of feeling. I love the character developments of Kaidan and Anna because they've become more matured compared to the previous books. Despite of all the conflicts they've been through, they were able to managed it by focusing on the problem and communicating sensibly. I really admire these two. With regards to their chemistry, OMG. AMAZING. I can't help this giddy feeling peeps!

When Kaidan said:

"I don't just love you, Anna. I adore you."

OMFG. HOLY SMOKES.
I. JUST. DIED.
I SIGH FOR KAI.

Kudos also to the side characters, because they had a great participation in this book. I love how Ms. Higgins didn't left them out. My favorite side character is Ginger, because she might got the angst, but she's sweet too. (total badass chick.) Also, Patti.
SpoilerI cried for Patty. :( Screw the damn Dukes.
Such a sweet, loving character. I love her.

Lastly, The Epilogue just made tear up a little.
SpoilerSweet Marna. Kaidan and the little girl, Alile. *goodness, tissue please*

It's a MUST READ series. I am definitely recommending this to everyone.
My guilty pleasure is satisfied and patiently waiting for Sweet Temptation.
Kaidan Rowe and Anna Whitt forever!!!

Sweet Reckoning was the personification of it's characters, both deliciously good and chaotically evil. By evil I mean it had it's flaws. Unlike sweet Anna the book wasn't perfect, but just like Kaidan it was entertaining and steamy.

Anna Paquin is in trouble. She is trying to gather up this army of Nephilim to her side before the final showdown with the Dukes. Only nobody knows when the "prophecy" is to be completed, nor where, ot what exactly they have to do to make it work... Anyways let's skip those details until the very last of the book shall we? Let's just focus now on how Kaidan and Anna are in love and how the Dukes are now on Anna's ass because they think she might just be the good pure girl the Prophecy professed would bring about their doom.

The Sweet Trilogy did not turn out to be a game changer. True it had some quite great, imaginative, new ideas on the whole battle of good versus evil when it started off in Sweet Evil but as it has progressed I feel like it kept leaning more towards fluff entertainment than actually wanting to leave it's mark behind on the genre. It has some great steamy scenes, and Kaidan is still to DIE for, but I was expecting a bit more. I was expecting epic, and that is just not what I got. I guess I was a bit disappointed that it didn't go bigger and instead relied on some old-timie remedies to solve it's characters final problems that were unimaginative.

Let me tell you, these Dukes are not quick on the ball. In fact, they were kind of crappy bad guys. While entertaining and quite hot to the touch the book did have it's faults. First off the cheese went deep like you wouldn't believe it. It bothered me, a lot. It was just so...

Let's just say I rolled my eyes a lot while reading this novel.

OF COURSE they had to get married before they had sex! If not GOD may not let her vanquish the demons, PFFT. It's not like they didn't love each other or anything. Nope, because it clearly states in this ancient book that pre marital sex is a TERRIBLE sin and you shall be less of a person if you participate in it. Oh and the way to get rid of the demons in Earth? PRAYER. JUST PRAY TO GOD THAT THEY ARE VANQUISHED OR SOMETHING AND HE SHALL RESPOND on this "fateful" night. I'm sorry, but to me it seemed he could have done that WHENEVER. Did he REALLY need Anna to PRAY in order for him to get off his ass? Cause that's all she did. In the final battle in order to vanquish the most "BADASSES" of DEMONS ON EARTH that could have CLEARLY killed her in so many ways if they had feel motivated to, she prayed. How did NOBODY think of that?! Sorry, but that particular detail of the ending was not very clever.

Another thing is the way that I didn't like how the issue of Anna having sex in the novel was portrayed.
so if you have sex before you are married (doesn't matter if you are too young to be married or nothing) you are automatically a slut that doesn't deserve to serve God? True, it was all just a theory that only the "purest" could wield the Sword of Righteousness but they never even put it to the test. They just figure, "well, just to be on the safe side let's get married and THEN have sex". It's not a bad plan, it just irks me the wrong way. What is that saying to the rest of the girls that might be reading this book who aren't married but want to explore their sexuality? To feel bad about themselves? It wasn't like Anna was just having sex with a random guy, she clearly loved Kaidan, and he clearly loved her. So what's the problem? So Anna can "do her evil job" of getting people drunk, getting herself WASTED, and other things like that but she can't have sex with the man she LOVES?

description

That is BS. I think it would have sent a stronger message if they had had sex without being married and God would have still accepted her in his holy light because he recognizes what is in her heart. Just saying.

Now I am not saying the book was not worth it, it was. It was a fitting ending to the series if not the most inspired. Again, I was expecting more due to Sweet Evil being such a different book with a strong start but I still enjoyed the whole series! I still found it entertaining and Kaidan is certainly not to be missed by all means. The whole series is fun and a breeze to get through. Even the side characters leave a mark.

I thought it a sweet touch at the end there that all the Nephlim still had to bear with the sins their father's passed down to them. Ultimately it was up to them if they manage to overcome their very basic needs in order to make it through the pearly white gates of Heaven, just like with any other human being. I enjoyed the epilogue as well, immensely. I liked that it was years after the final showdown and I liked this new side of Kaidan we got to see just before the series ended. It was definitely sweet.

Would I read the series again? Yes. The characters are great and I will miss them dearly. But maybe I wouldn't put my expectations so high next time, I would just read it for what it is and just sit back and enjoy the ride.

Sweet Reckoning extra sweet teaser, from Wendy Higgin's blog:

I texted Kaidan, who was listed in my contacts under “James,” for James Bond. He’d chosen it. He had me listed as “Hot Chick From Gig.”

Video chat in 30.

His immediate response made me shake my head.

Clothing optional?

It was nice to know he could keep a sense of humor in the face of calamity. Or maybe he wasn’t joking...

“Are you two flirting?” Patti asked, her eyes darting to me from the road.

I blushed and deleted his message.
