So , this was a let down for me , DNF at 70% , i can't believe i ever got there .
There was no chemistry between the MC , it's like the book had a starring point and an ending point and the rest was .... things.
We have him living his life then sees her on tv with a famous actor , later on he says she's not used to the paparazzi ?
And when the publicist comes over , she mistakes them as a couple, how can a publicist not know a famous actor's girlfriend ( because at that point, she just left , ther was no public announcement)
Then there's the author trying to make us feel bad for the H , showing us he was THINKING about calling her after he changed his phone number and left without her knowing + having a crush and trying to hit on his girl bff ( ps , he pays for everything for her , she's his number one )
So how can i possibly believe that there's something between the MC , at one point [ spoiler: when he went to take his daughter when she found out about him being her father, and he was super angry at th h ] i thought he would end up with his girl Bff and co parent with h

3.5 stars
I had high hopes about this book after reading the blurb and seeing the teasers. I am a sucker for unexpected surprises when it comes to romance. However, that excitement was short-lived. I struggled to connect with the characters and never really felt their connection. Everything seemed a little stilted. I couldn't understand how they were so previously in love and harboring all these deep-seated feelings after this much time. I had a hard time dealing with Saige because, in current times, there are no excuses, no matter how crappy the goodbye letter was, to say that they don't know how to reach someone, especially someone as famous as Colby because there were many avenues to get that number.
I struggled with the whole Topher part of the story too. Considering how important Brenna was to Saige, I cannot imagine that she wouldn't have seen that his anger could affect his child or that his behavior because of choices that he made to partake in would be a good influence. She was quick to keep throwing up roadblocks about what kind of parent Colby was or how he was not doing it right when in fact it was her that made it that way. This story had the potential to be so much more as the bones were good, it just needed to be fleshed out more. However, that is just my opinion.
I never felt them as a couple and other than Brenna this book was a wash for me. I appreciate the author and her hard work and her wanting to surprise her fans. The great thing about books is that even though this wasn't for me, it will be for others and, ultimately, that is what is important.

Adorable!
Very well written! Second Chance with secret kid is very touchy on how the story could go but this author did an amazing job.
I loved the way the relationship progressions were in this one between all of the characters. The side characters weren't just on the side they were apart of the story. While this was a slow burn that smexy scene was

This one was a miss for me. The plot was pretty subpar and it felt like a check list of events happening that lacked an organic flow. The romance was rushed and didn’t happen until after the 80% mark which I didn’t really enjoy. The daughter, Brenna, was one of the better parts of the book but she felt a lot older than a five year old. I also think didn’t know this is a standalone book in a completed series so I was missing a lot of inside jokes and commentary but I guess that should be on me for not knowing that when I bought it but I did know it was a standalone so that’s what I went in knowing and was proven wrong because you can’t have a standalone book that is in the same world of a series with extremely clipped explanations of things that could make you more confused. Like some characters I don’t understand what they were there for and other characters were so flatly written and forgotten halfway in that it really only hurt the book for me.
I absolutely loved this book! I enjoyed following the journey of the relationship between Colby and Saige. If you are into football trope and secret baby trope this is for you! I rate this 5/5⭐️⭐️ . Easy to read would definitely recommend it
one night!!
This is a one night read! I started it and finished it several hours later, I could NOT put it down! Sweet Saige, alpha male Colby and precious Brenna! It was amazing to see this family come together! The only feedback is that Brenna, for a 5 year old, is described as a kid that’s older. I have a 6 year old and she wouldn’t know most of the stuff Brenna says! But I still adore her!
