I really enjoyed this book. It was one of those quick reads for me. Wells builds a tense atmosphere that feels threatening, and very real. The Invisible Man is a scary man. I understand now why he was turned into more of a horror character than a sci-fi character.
This particular edition had a strange introduction by Adam Roberts, where he completely misunderstands Platonic philosophy, and creates a straw man Plato. There was also a very random, out of nowhere use of the n-word, that was quite shocking, as was an instance of anti-semitism. I understand it was a different time, but still, it’s shocking and unexpected.

Guys I read this as a kid and all I remember is that it scared the shit out of me and I really enjoyed reading the ramblings of a mad person (the main character) in 19th century English.
Wish they made the 30 page exposition dump invisible instead
