This book was written at the very end of 19th century and as such was revolutionary for the time period. The idea of an invisible man and what such an invention would cause among the average people was presented well here. At times I found the book too slowly paced but that's just my personal taste. Too many characters that we as readers don't really get to know or care about much... The writing style of small villages filled with people who each have their own quirks and perspectives reminded me of the book I read named 'the bridge on the Drina' but in that book it was much more well done.
The invisible man is a metaphor of how certain marginalized people can feel invisible even when very obviously seen. We as individuals often feel the need to escape, to leave everything behind and start anew, I think that's the main idea Wells tried to portray here. Once left behind Griffin realizes that he'd like to go back, realizes the small things he never used to notice about his old life but now cherishes. We see his descent into madness and the development of God complex. He believed he was superior to other people and was meant for bigger things which we might see as true or false. It reminded me of how Raskolnikov also tried to justify his actions by looking at the so called 'big picture'.
All in all it's a worthy read for people that like slower paced books focused more on the characters than the plot.

This was a bit of a drag to be honest.Very well written but poorly structured.

The audio book narrator gave his all and it really carried this weird story about a naked, invisible man terrorising a small town of really english people. I did expect a little bit more from someone often called 'the father of Science Fiction'.
