Good book, but could be a lot shorter and wouldn’t really miss out on much

I'd say this is worth reading - there are a few key insights but I would say it's not one of Godin's best works. There is a little too much anecdotal, not quite on the nail, material that obscures the core message. I like the key insights around who the work is really for and the shift to professionalism. I'd say read Stephen Pressfield's the War of Art first.

A good book with some helpful ideas/thoughts however it reiterated too much for me and many points were exactly the same thing said in a different way. Interestingly, Godin doesn't comment on the history of the word practice and how, even in the arts, it used to be called work. When the use of practice came in, it change how artists work was seen and valued. It would have been a good addition in this book as it ties in with what he suggests - practice is the work.

I really enjoyed this book. It was a hard pill to swallow especially as I was looking internally and it gave me some "Come To Jesus" moments, but I needed them.

The only fault is mine - I read it too fast. Each section could be a meditation. Excellent for the entrepreneurial-minded.

Written in bite sized chunks it contains some good content. You do have to dig a bit as the structure of the book is like lots of short blog posts. There is some repetition, but it's easy to read.
