This book is super nostalgic to me because it is the first book that I remember pre-ordering and waiting for it to be delivered on release day from amazon. This is the first book that I remember sitting down and completing in one sitting because I DESPERATELY wanted to know what happened. This book was so amazing back then and it still is now, 7 years later.
This book follows Nikki as she tries to ask her crush to the school dance. Honestly, so relatable. Nikki’s behaviour throughout this entire book is just such a mood and exactly what I would do in this situation. I feel like this will be so relatable for tweens who are having their first crush and are too nervous to talk to them... like, as a kid when I first read it, I felt like Nikki understood me and what I was going through with my crushes so... yeah.
The illustrations in this book are also next level! There are so many gorgeous illustrations of dresses that literally made me gasp in excitement.
If you’ve read any of my other reviews for this series, you’ll know that I am a massive fan of Brianna- I think she’s hilarious- so, I’ve gotta say that I loved how much she was in this book. She featured a lot and was still super funny.
I also love the Gym storyline where they are doing swimming and Nikki doesn’t know how to swim. It added some more depth to her character and it was really humanising to see her struggle. Plus, some parts of the gym storyline were pretty funny.
Finally, I wanted to talk about the humour - this book series is always hilarious. I will say that it is more prominent in some of the other books, but this one was still hilarious. I don’t know if it’s because I grew up in the 2000s, so this is just my sense of humour, but I found it hilarious!
I would really recommend this series and this book because they are super fun and light hearted. Honestly, they’re pretty dorkalicious.

i remember nothing. cover is cute though
Wonderful as usual! Poor Nikki, she only makes it worse for herself by not talking to her friends.
POV: you just remembered you begged your mum to buy this for you and brought it to read at camp but 8 years on you can barely remember what happened besides Nikki's epic-looking valentine
