Richard Bachman

Not my favorite, but still a good read.

King does a fantastic job of building character in the story. As the book pushes to it's inevitable conclusion you can't help but cringe. I think this book will stay with me for a long time.

sk (intro): warning: this book is almost pathologically depressing

me (end): Jesus this book was a downer

I wanted to like this book, but Bachman’s best it is not. For a character with a horribly sad backstory and an overall kind demeanor, the end of the novel didn’t move me the way it seemed to want to. Also, the Mice and Men overtones were too glaring to look away from, which definitely detracted from the story being presented. Not terrible, but not great.

This book was supposed to be like a Stephen King version of "Mice and Men". I found it predictable and fairly boring, and don't really have much else to say on it...the story and the characters both were predictable. *shrug*

book 4 of my king re-reads

this is the second time i’ve read blaze, and i couldn’t figure out why i didn’t remember anything other than there being a kidnapping. after finishing my reread i remember: it’s just a boring version of of mice and men.

i love king (obviously, he is my number one author) but this is one i will probably forget exists again in a few months, i do wanna reread of mice and men though. love that book xo

It was really good, but got slow at the end giving more backstory when it should've rocketed to the finish.

Re-visit, this time in audiobook. Suspenseful and heart wrenching.
dark emotional sad slow-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Character
Strong character development: Complicated
Loveable characters: No
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

It had King's usual solid writing, but this was one the foreward billed as being in a drawer for years, and it read that way. Ultimately, while written okay, the connection to the characters wasn't there.
