Ho. Lee. Shit. This book found a way to acknowledge every woman’s fears and stretch them to absolute terror.

Alone on a dark highway, Addy Treadway is manipulated into her worst fears by an unknown presence. Hightower used the West Virginian Mothman legend from the 60s and subjected Addy to a barrage of experiences testing her self-worth, independence and will to survive.

Hightower’s writing is superb and she builds Abby’s backstory quickly. As Abby is tormented by the Mothman and his mindf*ck of a cave she must escape, Abby grows stronger and questions her past life choices of easy submission to men on her life.

Abby’s journey was so frightening I was literally gasping. I flew through this book and will think about Addy’s journey for a while.
